Corebook X 2022 is the latest laptop announced by the Chinese firm Chuwi and like the previous versions, bet on the low price combining premium components and others of lesser level to lower costs below the barrier of 500 euros.
Chuwi always mounts good screens and for the occasion we have an LCD of 14 inches with native 2K resolution 2160 x 1440 pixels, 3:2 aspect ratio, support for 100% of the sRGB color gamut, and an 85% screen-to-body ratio. Its aluminum chassis is thin and light with a thickness of 10 mm at its minimum point and a weight of 1.36 kg.
Corebook X 2022: low level in the CPU
The processor is one of the components where Chuwi usually saves costs and the Corebook X 2022 mounts an Intel Core i3-10110U, in the low range of the ‘Comet Lake’ platform of 2019. Although the chip powered quite a few ultraportables and Chromebooks, it is not the best option for a computer in 2022, but it is explained by what we said: a very low price.
It is accompanied by 8 Gbytes of DDR4-2666 memory and a 512 Gbyte SATA solid state drive, another component where the brand cuts costs compared to higher-performance PCIe SSDs, although it can be expanded.
We like the connectivity section more with the inclusion of an Intel AX201 wireless card compatible with a Wi-Fi 6 that is spreading its adoption and also Bluetooth 5.2, which greatly improves the chip of previous models. It also features a microSD memory card reader, USB 3.0 Type-A and Type-C ports, a headphone jack, and a charging port.
It has a large touchpad (5.8 inches) and a backlit chiclet keyboard. Its 46.2 Wh battery is not bad for an ultraportable and should last for a day of use.
We end with the best of this Corebook X 2022, its price. We already said that Chuwi has been redefining the cheap laptop and this is no exception since it will cost €499 when it goes on sale later this month. It will preinstall Windows 10 Home and, well, if you can get by with a Core i3-10110U processor (clearly outclassed and the worst of the set) for that price, few laptops are you going to find.
