Citroen AMI: the new Tonic version arrives for the start of the school year

Citroën continues to ride on the success of its AMI, its electric car without a license. After having exceeded 20,000 copies sold, the chevron brand has just announced the launch of the Ami Tonic, a stylish top-of-the-range version equipped with additional options.

In February 2020, Citroën surprised everyone by launching the AMI, a small electric city car without a license available from €6,900 or €19.99/month at the time. Despite limited performance, namely a maximum speed of 45 km/h and a range of 70/75 km, the Citroën AMI quickly found its audience.

In April 2022, the chevron brand announced that it had exceeded 20,000 sales. Promising figures which have also pushed the Stellantis group (the parent company of Citroën) to think about equivalents of the AMI among the other manufacturers of the group. Projects have already been launched at Opel with the Opel Rocks-e and at Fiat with the Topolino.

Citroën launches the AMI Tonic, the top of the range

For its part, Citroën intends to continue to ride on the success of its mini electric city car. On September 1, 2022, the French company confirmed the launch of a new version of its license-free car: My AMI Tonic.

The main changes lie in the design, the AMI Tonic adorning itself with new khaki colors is lemon yellow, for a younger and more dynamic look. “The Citroën team wanted to bring a zest of freshness and vitality to this new version. The combination of lemon yellow color blocks and khaki blocks, combined with clever technical elements (directional arrows, open) gives My Ami Tonic a playful side so that it becomes the toy of 14-year-olds and 77-year-olds”. summarizes Mathieu Wandon, Citroën graphic design manager.

According to the manufacturer, this AMI Tonic is thought to occupy the top of the range. This is why it is equipped with additional personalization elements such as the smartphone clip, the three storage bins, the door nets, the central separation net, the bag hook, the floor mats and the Dat@mi dongle allowing you to connect your smartphone with your AMI.

Regarding the exterior, there are elements already present on other versions, such as the shields and the roof bars, the wheel covers or the black plastron under the windshield. According to Citroen, this Tonic version of the AMI is now available in Franceor for purchase from €8,990 or long-term rental from €34.99 including tax.
