Clerks III: Lionsgate acquired the rights to the film and began production

It seems that the “salesmen” of Kevin Smith are ready to return, 15 years after the last film, for Clerks III. Lionsgate, after acquiring the worldwide rights to the film, began moving to start production.

The entire cast of the second film looks set to return, with filming set to begin next month in New Jersey.

Clerks III, thanks to Lionsgate, is ready to go into production

Rumors have been circulating for some time about how Kevin Smith had a plan for the third film in the series and now, many years after the second film, confirmation arrives that Clerks III is ready to go into production.

The push came from Lionsgate who, after acquiring the worldwide rights of the film, moved to speed up the timing and put into production the third film dedicated to the salesmen Randal and Dante.

Kevin Smith, in addition to being the screenwriter of the film, will be back in the control room for this trequel and will bring back to the set all the main actors seen in Clerks II. Jeff Anderson will return as Randal while Brian O’Halloran in those of Dante. There will be Silent Bob played by Kevin Smith and Jay of Jay Mewes. Also Rosario Dawson will reprise the role of Becky, while the production of the film will be entrusted to Liz Destro is Jordan Monsanto.

Smith, interviewed about the start of work for Clerks IIIhe said:

There is a Tao saying that says something like “To be great is to move forward. To go on is to go far. To go far is to go back ”. Thanks to Lionsgate we can go back to where it all began, with almost the entire cast starting the trilogy. And, for the first time since the first film, we return to shooting on location in New Jersey, as if it were an ode to both the enduring appeal of cinema and the resourcefulness and madness of its storytellers. Years ago Dante and Randal made me director, now it’s time to return the favor.

Shooting for the film is expected to begin next month in New Jersey, while the film will be the conclusion of the trilogy that began in 1993. “It will be a film about how you are never too old to completely change your lifeSmith said. “It will be a film about how a ten-year friendship finally confronts the future. It will be a film that will take us back to the beginning, a return to the cradle of civilization in the great state of New Jersey“.
