Colt and Equinix enhance collaboration agreement to drive digital transformation in France

Colt Technology and Equinix they have collaboration agreement extended they had, and which they started in 2017, with the aim of helping to give a boosting the digital transformation of companies and institutions in France. As part of this enhancement, Colt and Equinix have launched a new Colt Point of Presence at Equinix’s BX1 data center in Bordeaux, France. In it, Colt will use large amounts of fiber to connect to termination points in Europe and beyond.

With this collaboration, enterprise customers will be able to benefit directly from Colt’s cloud-optimized smart grid. That is to say, from the Colt IQ Network, which connects to the networks of the metropolitan area throughout Europe, with cities such as Paris, Marseille and Madrid. In addition, customers will also be able to take advantage of the reach of Colt’s IQ network, which connects to more than 900 data centers and more than 29,000 buildings worldwide; in addition to Colt’s long-distance network, which connects Europe with Asia.

The BX1 data center also serves as a landing point for the Amitie submarine cable, which will be a new European gateway for data traffic between Europe and the United States, linking Massachusetts, in the United States, with Le Porge, in France, and Bud, in the UK. The mentioned point of presence allows the collection and delivery of that data traffic.

The CEO of Colt, Joan Monrabáhas pointed out that «Leveraging our strong relationship with Equinix, this latest PoP in Bordeaux allows us to further support cloud transformations and reflects our commitment to invest so we can continue to meet our customers’ needs for enhanced connectivity. As well as benefiting from access to our Colt IQ network, which connects to metropolitan area networks across Europe. Equinix’s BX1 facility also provides a landing hub for the new AMITIE submarine cable linking the United States, France and the United Kingdom, opening up a range of possibilities for customers.”
