That Remedy had among its plans Control 2, the sequel to the exceptional Control, shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. And it is that despite its weaknesses, mainly those of being an intergenerational title, both its finish and its plot and the challenge of its development ended up making it one of the best releases of 2019, and a title that still continues to obtain great praise both for those who have already played it at the time and for those who discover it more recently.
Thus, already in August of last year Remedy confirmed that Control 2 was among its plans, in view of the company’s portfolio of projects at that time. In this document we could see, to the right of a Control image, two projects: Condor, a spin-off of Control and «Bigger new Control game«and it was also indicated in said image that this project was going to be carried out with the participation of 505 Games, some promising plans, but of which we have not heard again until now.
And it is that, of course, having a title among your plans, as is the case with Control 2, is something quite indefinite, since there are many phases through which the complete development of a game passes, from scripting and pre-production, to preparation, on the run, from the zero-day patch, practically parallel to the release of the game. And, of course, that advance it did not tell us what phase it was inwhich invited us to think that it was at some point before the start of development.
We have signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish Control 2, a sequel to Control. Read the announcement: https://t.co/UD1iFHvCeH
This is a very exciting moment for us! Mikael Kasurinen, Game Director of the franchise, tells more: https://t.co/KJCHIWgBlU pic.twitter.com/TuTEMr1tjv

The good news is that, as we can read on the studio’s website, Remedy has confirmed that Control 2 is already in development. And, as we expected from last year’s information, this phase, the most complex and extensive in time, is being shared between Remedy and 505 Games. Arguably, as we expected, it will be a sequel to the original Control and, in terms of its scope, the good news is confirmed: it will be exclusive to the new generation. Something that, of course, if we take into account that its launch will take place in 2025 at the earliest, makes perfect sense, because by then the life cycle of the previous generation should have already come to an end.
It may not be a good idea to start raising expectations so soon but, in the absence of more information about the title and after thanking the success of the precursor title, Mikael Kasurinen, director of the Control franchise, pronounces himself in these terms about Control 2 :
«With Control 2, we will take another leap into the unknown. It will be an unexpected trip. It will take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I have ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.«
