CORSAIR MM700 RGB, analysis of this giant PC mousepad

For the rest, it has a micro-textured textile surface ideal for sliding any type of mouse, since it has very low friction, and also offers great precision when textured. The base is made of rubber, also textured, which guarantees an optimal grip on the table so that the mat never moves from its place (something that will be complicated since with these dimensions we will have to put the keyboard and maybe even the monitor and the speakers on top of the mat itself).

This is the world’s largest mat

The CORSAIR MM700 RGB 3XL comes in a large and heavy box (keep in mind that, even when rolled up, it is 61 cm high), with the usual black and yellow colors that this manufacturer uses in all its products. We can find images and information about the product on its different faces, nothing that we do not know at this point.

Inside, we find as accessories the usual pamphlet on the guarantee and also a power cable from USB-A to USB-C, which will allow us to connect the mat to the PC. This cable, by the way, does not come with nylon mesh as usual.

When removing the product from the packaging we realize why it weighed so much, and that is that in addition to a protective outer plastic, it has a fairly thick and heavy cardboard cylinder inside, necessary because it will keep its shape even when inside the box. .

The mat, once spread out on the table, is really huge (and, honestly, complicated to manage to place it in the position you want, both because of its volume and weight and because of what its rubber bottom surface “sticks”) ..

The mat has a sewn-in translucent lighting tube all around its perimeter. This tube is not completely rigid, but it is also not as soft as a normal sewn edge.

In the lower right corner we have the only decoration on this mat, completely black: the brand’s logo in white.

And in the upper right corner is where we find the controller / hub, which as you can see on the inside is where the USB 2.0 port is.

On the opposite side we have the USB-C female connector, as well as the button that will help us switch between profiles.

In the lower area we have the rubber base, textured to improve its grip on the table.

Little more to show you, so we are going to proceed to connect it to the PC and see how it is using it.

What is it like to wear the CORSAIR MM700 RGB 3XL?

We are going to start by seeing the lighting, and that is that as soon as the mat is connected to a USB power source (it does not even need to be a PC), it already begins to light up all around its perimeter. In fact, in this case, even the controller lights up, both in the CORSAIR logo and in the USB connector itself.

Of course, the entire perimeter is also illuminated, although since the mat is so large, it is hardly noticeable in the photo.

In this gallery of images, showing a corner, it does look better.

We could say that the lighting is quite good, although we must also tell you that we noticed that it lacks intensity, probably because the 5V provided by the USB connector arrive “just right” for the more than 3 and a half meters of perimeter of the mat (specifically, 3,660 mm).

We proceed to connect it to the PC to see what its software offers us, CORSAIR iCUE, which is compatible with all of the brand’s current devices. As soon as it is connected to the system, it already seems to us in iCUE.

iCUE

We access the options that the mat gives us, and we come across only two, the first being lighting effects, where, as its name indicates, we can configure the effects and colors as usual.

iCUE

In the device configuration tab, the only thing we have is the option to update the firmware and modify the lighting intensity, which by default is already at maximum.

Given what this CORSAIR MM700 RGB 3XL offers us, the time has come to tell you how it works, or rather how it feels when using it. We’ve been using it with a Logitech G903 mouse, and gliding is smooth and unimpeded, meaning friction with the mouse pad’s fabric is minimal.

The mat clings to the table like glue, also partly because due to the size of the mat we had to place it under the keyboard, monitor and soundbar as it is HUGE so it’s normal that it doesn’t stick. move not one iota. All in all, it has been very comfortable for us to use, since even though it has that lighting tube on the edges that is more rigid than a simple sewn edge, being 4 mm thick we have good padding for both wrists, something that is It’s quite appreciated when you use the PC for many hours a day.

For the rest, little to add… it’s a mat, so what we have to tell you about it we’ve already done: it’s comfortable, it’s huge, and the mouse works like a charm on its surface.

Conclusion and verdict

We are, as we said at the beginning, facing the largest mouse pad currently on the market, and that means a huge surface that is no longer just limited to moving the mouse over, but also seeks to give the desktop an elegant and homogeneous aesthetic, also in part because of its perimeter RGB lighting.

In this regard, there may be users who want to cover their entire table with the mat, and we consider that this is something that is very good if it can be done in a homogeneous way… the problem is that those dimensions of 1220 x 610 mm are not going to match any usual table, and we think that CORSAIR should have considered the dimensions that they have, normally the tables… the width of the tables is usually 1200 or, 1400 or 1500 mm and not 1220 mm, while the depth is usually 600, 700, 750 or 800 mm, not 610.

All in all, we have to say that the behavior of the mat is extraordinary, and it provides great comfort thanks to its 4 mm thickness, as well as a huge surface to move the mouse and a touch of light with its perimeter RGB lighting.

By the way, for now CORSAIR has it listed on its website but without a price, and considering that the normal Extended model already costs €79.99, it is quite likely that this 3XL model will have a price that exceeds €100.

For all this that we have told you, we believe that the CORSAIR MM700 RGB 3XL deserves our Gold award, as well as our recommendation for its performance.
