CORSAIR updates its HXi sources, now fully digital!

CORSAIR is one of the best known manufacturers in the world of hardware, and is well known for the quality of its products. In the field of power supplies, this is taken almost to the limit, since it is one of the few manufacturers that, sure of its proper functioning, provide them with a 10-year guarantee. Now CORSAIR has announced the update of its family of HXi power supplieswhich are now fully digital and have been enhanced with several top-of-the-range details, including their certification 80 Plus Platinum.

It would be quite complicated to explain the difference between a digital and an analog source in a launch article like this one (for that we already did a complete article explaining why a digital source is better than an analog one), but you should know that it is a quite a big step forward for this family to be updated to 100% digital, since it allows a better voltage control and a better efficiency.

CORSAIR HXi: the high end, higher still

CORSAIR’s HXi series of power supplies has always been considered high-end, and now it will be even more so with this new update. CORSAIR initially released two source models from this family, the HX1500i from 1500 watts and the HX1000i from 1000 watts, both fully modular and with 80 Plus Platinum efficiency certification. With this power, you can already imagine that they are ambitiously designed for today’s modern high-end systems.

In addition to this, these power supplies can be controlled and configured through iCUE, CORSAIR’s unified software, allowing you to monitor all their values (including input and output power, as well as efficiency) and even configure the fan curve, which by the way comes from the factory with a semi-passive operation to guarantee the lowest possible sound level. Likewise, the software also allows changing the operating mode of the source in terms of OCP protection of one or more lanes.

Thus, building on the legacy of CORSAIR’s first digital source (the AXi family), these CORSAIR HXi offer the power, stability and efficiency that modern platforms require, as you know they are increasingly demanding in terms of power. Of course, these supplies feature 105ºC Japanese capacitors and, as fully digital supplies, feature LLC resonant topology and DC-DC conversionguaranteeing the best performance.

Availability, warranty and price

These new CORSAIR HX1500i and HX1000i power supplies are available now through the manufacturer’s online store, and will soon hit stores around the world that regularly carry CORSAIR products.

As we have mentioned before, both models are backed by 10 year warrantyand although the manufacturer has said that you have to consult their website to see the updated prices, at the time of writing this article they still do not have them, but as you will surely guess, they will be quite expensive power supplies, probably around the 300-400 Euros.
