Cowboy is a Belgian electric bike brand. Created in 2017, it has just completed a second fundraising round of $80 million.
Cowboy describes himself as “the most popular electric bike brand in the world”. If this marketing claim can be discussed, it is obvious that the firm, originally from Brussels, plays a very important role in the world of VAE, electrically assisted bicycles. While soft mobility, such as cycling, is increasingly encouraged in large cities, Cowboy intends to play its role in building “a complete ecosystem dedicated to urban cycling”.
In order to achieve its ambitions, the brand has just completed an $80 million fundraiser which should enable it to “to internally develop its latest advanced technologies, and to design ever more innovative products and services for a growing community in search of physical exercise. »
A fundraiser to continue the ascent
The Brussels brand also explains that it wants to develop outside the Belgian capital, as the firm is about to open a store in the heart of Paris next May. As a reminder, Cowboy’s previous fundraiser had brought in $40 million for the brand, which therefore doubles this figure.
Good news for the start-up created in 2017, which still has to overcome several technical and logistical challenges before establishing itself in the world of VAE as one of the most important sellers. Today, the brand’s flagship model is the Cowboy 4, an electric bike available at a price of €2,590 which has several very interesting high-tech features.
In addition to an electric motor capable of adapting to the force you put into the pedals to maintain a constant speed, the bike also has a wireless charging base for smartphones. A small detail that allows you to keep your screen always on without worrying about the battery.
A smart bike
The phone is then connected to the Cowboy application which offers a whole lot of information on traffic conditions or the state of the road. In addition to these features available while riding, Cowboy bikes offer a theft detection system, which makes it almost impossible.
But the sensors hidden in the frame of the bike can also detect falls. In the event of an accident, the application therefore immediately contacts the people to be contacted in the event of an emergency.
While this fundraising bodes well for 2022, Cowboy announces that it is focusing its development around four strong axes: excellence in product design, on-demand services, the fitness experience, and customer satisfaction. .
