Cyberpunk 2077 finally adds support for DLSS 3

CD PROJEKT RED has announced the recent addition of DLSS 3 and NVIDIA Reflex in cyberpunk 2077the well-known futuristic and dystopian RPG that had a disastrous premiere, but that little by little and based on patches has been improving to at least get closer to what the company had promised in the development phases.

Little explanation is needed at this point in time for DLSS 3, the latest generation of AI-supported supersampling or upscaling technology from NVIDIA, which in its most recent iteration has added AI imaging technology and is compatible with generation Ada Lovelace graphics cards (RTX 4000) of the green giant This means that its use requires for now a graph RTX 4090, RTX 4080 or RTX 4070 Tithe models more oriented to the medium and entry ranges are still pending.

DLSS 3’s artificial intelligence imaging technology adds to others that were already present, such as the reconstruction and rescaling process. Basically, what DLSS does is create frames with a higher final resolution starting from others that have been rendered at a lower resolution than the one intended to be projected.

For example, to project a target resolution of 3,840×2160 pixels, the original image to be resized starts from 1,920×1,080 pixels. The algorithms combine previous frames with the current frame and use elements of space, time, and motion vectors to create a high-quality target frame.

With the addition of Cyberpunk 2077, DLSS 3 adds another officially compatible title on a list that already includes Dying Light 2 Stay Human, HITMAN 3, Dakar Desert Rally, Deliver Us Mars, Marvel’s Midnight Suns and PERISH. NVIDIA has already confirmed the future addition of upscaling technology in Atomic Heart, ILL SPACE, THRONE AND LIBERTY, The Day Before, Tower of Fantasy, Warhaven, and Witchfire.

In total there are about 50 games and applications that support DLSS 3 compared to more than 250 games that have implemented DLSS 2. The adoption of DLSS 3 is apparently slower than expected, which could be due to low expectations around on sale of hardware by 2023.
