Dell and Logitech are definitely leaving Russia

Dell and Logitech they have decided definitively abandon its operations in Russia. Both had already ceased some of their operations for several months, and with this step, they are leaving the Russian market due to the invasion of Ukraine. Dell began winding down its operations in the country very soon after the attacks began in February. In August it already closed all its offices in Russia, and in February it already stopped its sales. It had also stopped offering support to the clients it had until now.

Apparently, according to Reuters, the Russian authorities claim that the vast majority of specialists in the Research and Development center, as well as support engineers, that Dell had working in its offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg have already received job offers from Russian manufacturers. This is assured by Russian Trade Minister Vasily Shpak.

As for Logitech, it has confirmed that it will close its remaining operations in Russia due to «an uncertain environment on an ongoing basis«. The company points out that last March they announced that Logitech would stop its sales to Russia. Since then they haveWe have been monitoring the situation very closely, and unfortunately, the circumstances do not allow us to continue doing business as before«. The company will completely cease all its activities in the country as of September 1. The Russian employees that the company still had finish their work on August 31.

Both companies thus join the long list of technology companies that have already definitively abandoned the Russian market. But not only technology companies have left the country. Also others in the retail sector, and even restaurants, such as McDonalds or Starbucks, have definitively ceased their operations in Russia several weeks and even months ago. Of course, they already have local companies that have replaced them by imitating their style and products.

Meanwhile, one of the fastest growing tech sectors, even exponentially, in Russia is VPNs. Many citizens of the country install them and hire their services in order to bypass the blockade on access to various services and websites that are currently blocked from Russia.
