The American giant has accidentally confirmed that the Dell Precision 5470 will be the first professional laptop to use the Intel Arc A30M PROa new generation of professional graphics solutions with which Intel will try to gain a foothold in a very competitive sector.
Everything seems to indicate that the Dell Precision 5470 will be a portable workstation that will bet on mobility, since it will have a 14-inch screen, but without sacrificing a good level of performance, since it will be accompanied by a processor Intel Core i9-12900Ha chip that is capable of delivering high power in both single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads.
Going back to the Intel Arc A30M PRO, which after all is what is really new and interesting, this GPU will use the Gen 12.7 architecture, which means that it will be one of the most advanced in its class. However, it is important to bear in mind that we would be facing a low power graphics solution designed for ultra light equipment, and therefore its shader count and raw power would be consistent with that category.
Its final specifications have not yet been confirmed, but everything seems to indicate that it will have a total of 128 execution units, which is equivalent to a total of 1,024 shaders. Its memory bus will be 64 bits, and will be accompanied by a minimum of 4 GB of GDDR6 memory. In the attached image we can see a very clear diagram of the Intel Gen 12.7 architecture, and it shows perfectly the configuration of each Xe core, which includes a unit for ray tracing.
Until we have more information it’s impossible to draw fully reliable conclusions, but with the specifications we have on the table right now I think the Intel Arc A30M PRO should double the performance of the Intel Iris Xe GPU with 96 execution units, an integrated solution that was used in the Intel Tiger Lake. On the other hand, it is important to make it clear that the fact that Dell has already confirmed the existence of this graphics solution is a clear sign that its presentation could take place very soon.
