Dell has launched the PowerVault ME5, a new storage solution for SMEs that combines good performance and high scalability to achieve better results with different workloads. As confirmed by the technology giant, this new range is made up of three models that offer different features, and that are optimized for SAN and DAS.
Dell PowerVault ME5 stands for software in a modern design, and is capable of delivering twice the performance, productivity, capacity and memory of its predecessor, the PowerVault ME4 series. Dell says these new storage solutions are designed to help SMEs boost productivity and economic growthtwo goals they achieve by improving their access to data and boosting their competitiveness.
These new storage solutions offer full PowerEdge Server support, rich data services, cloud-based storage performance and analytics, and are committed to maintaining a simple and intuitive management interface, which translates into an improved user experience. This is made possible by its ME5 (HTML5) Array Management GUI with intuitive user navigation and scripting support with a Redfish/Swordfish REST or CLI API. PowerVault ME5 also supports Dell’s Open Management Enterprise (OME) framework, which is especially useful when PowerVault is installed alongside Dell networks, servers and other infrastructure in a data center.
To all of the above we must add that ProSupport Services customers for PowerVault ME5 can access CloudIQ at no additional cost. CloudIQ is Dell’s cloud-based AIOP that uses telemetry, machine learning, and other algorithms to provide notifications and predictive analytics that indicate array operational status, as well as advice on remediation, anomalies, capacity projections, reclaimable storage, and more.
With the Del PowerVault ME5 we can manage a wide range of workloads, including high-performance computing file systems with BeeGFS, PixStore and NFS file systems, security and safety (CCTV at the edge), Microsoft and VMware virtualization, up to 500 virtual desktops, Edge use cases (oil and gas exploration and cloud gaming) and more, without compromising performance or availability SLAs. It is also optimal for original equipment manufacturing (OEM) with its OEM-ready design.
Dell has confirmed that its price is based on $12,000.
