A few days ago I wrote an article about the new browser in beta phase that the company DuckDuckGo (developer of the famous duck search engine) has specifically designed for macOS. So without thinking twice, I installed it on my Mac, since now any user can do it from the DuckDuckGo website.
A beta for everyone
For a few months, this beta has only been accessible to beta testers subscribed to the project, but for a few days, the download has already been released for any user who wants to try the new browser. One more step towards the launch of the final version.
DuckDuckGo offers many common features expected from a modern browser, such as password and tab management, history, bookmarks, etc. It uses the same WebKit rendering engine that Apple’s Safari browser is based on. And as expected, he also uses his seeker own self.
So far, we could say that it is just another browser, like any other application to access web pages. but what has caught my attention the most about DuckDuckGo for Mac is undoubtedly its own video player, the Duck Player.
This player allows you to enter Youtube anonymously. This blocks ads on most YouTube videos. The platform will continue to record your visits, but they will not feed new information to the advertising profile that YouTube has about your preferences.
With Duck Player you can select which block advertising of all YouTube videos, for some specific ones or set it to take action every time you click on a YouTube link. The truth is that I’ve been testing it for a couple of weeks, and it’s a real wonder. I hope that the tests will finish soon and it will be officially launched.
