As you may know, there will be changes at Disney + by the end of 2022. The firm with big ears has already confirmed that a new formula with advertisements will be launched at this period. While we thought that this version would be cheaper, its price will finally be modeled on that of the current subscription, namely € 8.99 per month in France.

The icing on the cake, the classic Disney + offer (which will be called Premium) without advertisements will be more expensive. In the USA, its price will increase from $7.99 per month to $10.99 per month. That’s an increase of 38%. Regarding France, no price increase has been confirmed, but there is no reason for our country to be spared by this new pricing policy.

However, if this is the first price increase of Disney +, it won’t be the last, far from it. At Goldman Sachs’ Communcacopia+ Technology 2022 conference, Disney CEO Bob Chapek expanded on Disney+’s strategy.

Disney CEO says Disney+ price is still too low

First, he admits that Disney+ launched three years ago in a price “rather absurd” $6.99 per month. Now well established with more than 152 million subscribers in July 2022, the boss believes that the platform continues to offer better value for money than its competitors.

I think our price is way below the value we offer,” he declares. In fact, when Disney+ Premium is priced at $10.99 per month, the firm will still have a lot of leeway to raise prices. In any case, this is what the boss assures us: “We believe that the consequences of the price increase on churn will be negligible”, he explains.

According to him, the formula with Disney+ advertisements will allow “meet the diverse needs of consumers”. In the United States, Disney plans to launch a special bundle combining the services of Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu. In addition, the company would like to launch an Amazon Prime-style membership program in the coming months.
