Disney + unveils the news of January 2022: Eternals and Hit Monkey arrive

A few days before Christmas and the end of this year, Disney + unveils the news streaming coming in January 2022.

New year, new streaming and, as remembered by Disney Plus itself, there is so much to be excited about for the new year that will give us even more content with new films, TV series and documentaries among which the debut in streaming of Eternals by Marvel Studios.

Eternals

The Marvel Studios Eternals movie follows a group of superhuman heroes who have protected the Earth since the dawn of humanity. When monstrous creatures called Deviants, believed to have long since disappeared, mysteriously return, the Eternals must come together to defend humanity once again. The cast of the film includes Gemma Chan, who plays Sersi, a lover of humanity; Richard Madden, who plays the almighty Ikaris; Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Kingo, endowed with the powers of the cosmos; Lia McHugh, who plays Sprite, eternally young and yet full of wisdom; Brian Tyree Henry, who plays the intelligent inventor Phastos; Lauren Ridloff, who plays the super-fast Makkari; Barry Keoghan, who plays the lonely Druig; Don Lee, who plays the mighty Gilgamesh. Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman, while Salma Hayek plays the wise and spiritual leader Ajak and Angelina Jolie plays the fiery warrior Thena.

The film is directed by Chloé Zhao and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Kevin de la Noy serving as executive producers. The story is by Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo, while the screenplay is written by Chloé Zhao and Chloé Zhao & Patrick Burleigh and Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo.

Antlers – Insatiable spirit

From the visionary world of acclaimed director Scott Cooper and Oscar®-winning master of horror Guillermo del Toro, comes Antlers – Insatiable Spirit. In a secluded Oregon town, a middle school teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother, the sheriff (Jesse Plemons), are drawn into the dark secrets of a mysterious student of hers (Jeremy T. Thomas) that will lead to terrifying encounters with a legendary ancestral creature. Based on the short story “The Quiet Boy” by Nick Antosca and with a screenplay by C. Henry Chaisson & Nick Antosca and Scott Cooper, the film is produced by Guillermo del Toro, David S. Goyer and J. Miles Dale.

Antlers – Insatiable Spirit is played by Keri Russell (The Americans, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Jesse Plemons (The Irishman), Graham Greene (Secrets of the Wind River), Scott Haze (Venom), Rory Cochrane (Black Mass – The Last Gangster) and Amy Madigan (Gone Baby Gone) and rookies Jeremy T. Thomas and Sawyer Jones.

Marvel’s Hit Monkey – Season 1

Among the most anticipated Disney + releases of January 2022 there is undoubtedly the animated series Hit Monkey by Marvel Studios. After a Japanese macaque tribe is slaughtered, the monkey teams up with the ghost of an American hitman. Together, the two begin to fight and make their way through the Tokyo underworld.

Big Sky

When private detectives Cassie Dewell and Jenny Hoyt get together to investigate a car accident near Helena, Montana, they soon discover that the case isn’t as simple as it sounds. As they try to find out what’s behind the mysterious incident, their lives collide with a gang of unsuspecting teenagers, a seductive character from Jenny’s past, and a cruel stranger determined to find answers.

Queens – Queens of Hip Hop

Queens – Queens of Hip Hop follows a troubled group of girls living in the shadow of their once famous hip-hop dynasty.

Distant and no longer in contact, these four forty-year-old women reunite to try to regain their fame and rediscover the charm of once upon a time, when they were the Nasty Bitches, the group of the 90s that at the time was considered one of the greatest women’s groups of their generation after the release of the single “Nasty Girl”.

Better things – Season 2

Better Things centers on Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon), an unrestrained single actress who raises her three daughters, Max (Mikey Madison), Frankie (Hannah Alligood) and Duke (Olivia Edward) in Los Angeles. She is mom, dad, referee and policeman. Sam also looks after his mother, Phil (Celia Imrie), an expat from England, who lives across the street. Sam is imperfect and has a strong love for her daughters and her own mother, and sometimes exaggerates with too much affection when she feels guilty. He’s just trying to make a living, manage his daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two, and occasionally try to carve out some time for himself.

Jojo Rabbit

Director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Runaway Savages) imprints his distinctive style, characterized by humor and pathos, in his latest film, Jojo Rabbit, a World War II satire following the exploits of a rather lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo), whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers that his mother (Scarlett Johansson), who is single, is hiding a young Jewish woman (Thomasin McKenzie) in the attic. Aided only by his fictional friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo is forced to confront his blind nationalism.
