If you are the proud owner of a Game Boy console, you will have the chance to visit a virtual exhibition dedicated to the Game Boy Camera.
The Game Boys are at 21th century at the center of many fan projects, often related to a miniaturization or a modernization of the console. Today, an artist returns with an incredible(ly crazy) project, available as a virtual exhibition. baptized Game Boy Camera Galleryit is a collection of photos taken with the small camera of the console, and grouped together in a virtual gallery.
Everything is visible directly from the console, so as long as you have one, you will be entitled to a (non-guided) visit of the best shots. We owe this exhibition to the artist Cat Graffam, who admits to having been greatly inspired by the work of many fans, such as Zoe Wolfe, the bird’s photographer. She explains :
” The Game Boy Camera has an iconic aesthetic that’s unmatched by any other camera of the time and has some incredibly powerful features, but it wasn’t really seen as a legitimate art-making tool. All parts were selected from submissions to the amazing Game Boy Camera Club discord exhibit, which is filled with amazing pioneers of crazy Game Boy Camera mods and tools. ยป
The Game Boy Camera is making a comeback
All of the photos therefore do not come exclusively from the artist herself, but also from many players and enthusiasts, who have given themselves to their heart’s content to complete the gallery. Besides, Cat Graffam is not the only one to have used the Game Boy Camera for artistic purposes. In recent years, the old camera (23 years old all the same) has come out of the cupboards for its shots with a pixelated and very vintage look.
How do I access the Game Boy Camera Gallery?
To do this, nothing simpler. On its site, Cat Graffam gives you free access to a demo of its little game. If you wish to acquire the full version, all you have to do is make a donation in exchange. You can then launch the game either on a real Game Boy or on an emulator. For the next few months, the artist hopes to have raised enough funds to be able to materialize his project, and release it in the form of a playable cartridge for the Game Boy.
