EA wants to save Battlefield 2042 with a campaign mode

The truth is that the history of Battlefield 2042 is being too tumultuous and despite the time it has already been on the market, almost a year that will be on November 12, still dragging the scandal of that step of the game full price to 80 euros to free that raised a large part of the community in arms: especially the most staunch fans who ran to the stores to buy it. Now, Electronic Arts will have no choice but to eat his own words about what he thought a few years ago of campaign games.

In search of the lost campaign

If you remember, some time ago Electronic Arts suffered a “multiplayer launch attack” and decided to cancel its own developments of large franchises focused on individual games, with campaigns, complex plots and far removed from that online that currently controls everything. The excuse was that players didn’t want that kind of experiencebut he said it in the heyday of titles like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4 and countless other names.

Now it seems that with Battlefield 2042 is going to amend that (erroneous) thought that Electronic Arts had and is preparing a campaign mode, with its plot well spun and that could come to the franchise soon. As early as this year. The person in charge of this assignment? Well, the Redgeline Games company run by one of the creators of Halo, Marcus Letto.

Remember that already the fans complained bitterly that when Battlefield 2042 reached the stores had nothing but multiplayer modes, leaving aside the traditional campaign (so typical within the franchise) to enjoy a small story that not only seduced us with a plot rather, it was intended to train us so that, upon completion, we would land in multiplayer with the important control and handling lessons fully learned.

What will it tell us?

Within the official statement issued by Electronic Arts itself no reference is made to anything that could give clues about the theme of that future campaign of Battlefield 2042 that the Americans are preparing, so we will still have to wait until there is a trailer involved reveal or something like that in the next few weeks.

Anyway, this move made by Electronic Arts fits perfectly with what happened after the eventful launch of Battlefield 2042 and that led the company to appoint Vince Zampella, head of Respawn, as the thinking head of such a successful franchise that has a tradition and prestige that few have achieved over the last decades.

Zampella, we must remember, left Activision and Infinity Ward after the success of his Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (the old one, the one from 2009) to create Respawn, a developer that has behind it great games like titan fall Y titan fall 2 either apex legends. So let’s hope that the joint work with Letto bears fruit and before the end of the year we have news or… maybe the campaign itself is already available?
