The EV-Volumes site is the absolute reference when it comes to communicating the sales figures for electric cars in the different countries of the world and at the global level. On this Thursday, December 8, 2022, the platform has just revealed the global sales of electric vehicles in 2022.

Thereby, no less than 932,000 plug-in electric cars found takers in October 2022. This represents a 55% increase over the same period in 2021. Now, EVs therefore represent 16% of the global automotive market.

7.7 million electric vehicles sold since the start of 2022

Please note, however, it should be noted that 100% electric vehicles represent the majority of these registrations, up to 641,000 sales. As you will have understood, the remaining 291,000 sales must be attributed to plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV). Note that this segment is experiencing better growth than that of EVs, i.e. 60% against 54%. We owe these good figures to the Chinese market, which is particularly demanding in PHEV.

Thus and since the beginning of the year 2022, more than 7.7 million electric and plug-in hybrid cars have been registered worldwide. In other words, it is still not too late to go beyond the milestone of 10 million vehicles sold over one year, which would also be a historic record. In 2021, 6.5 million plug-in electric cars have found buyers.
