Electrocompaniet presents an 800W amplifier and two streamers

We are going to have quite a few days when it comes to news about audio equipment, since the fairs that we so longed for are back. For example, Electrocompany It is already preparing its visit to the High End Show, which will be held in Munich from May 19, 2022. For this great event, the Norwegian manufacturer has presented three new devices: the AW 800 M high power amplifier, the Rena S2 streamer and the Rena SA2 streaming amplifier.

The Rene SA2 is the second generation of the award-winning DAC/Streaming Amplifier from Electrocompaniet, based on the software engine developed by the manufacturer itself. It is a device that comes prepared for Roon and that it is compatible with Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz, Airplay 2, DLNA/UPnP and Bluetooth. In addition, it also includes a Summit wireless WiSA chip, which allows you to connect to WiSA-compatible wireless speakers, including Electrocompaniet’s Tana L2 and Sira L1 subwoofers.

The new model is a stereo amplifier offering 75W per channel. It features new speaker terminals and its design has been improved with a new touch button system and updated DSP. In terms of connectivity, it has three digital inputs (one coaxial and two optical) and a combined analog and digital output.

As a good streamer, the Electrocompaniet Rena SA2 has an application for its control. However, it is also compatible with the new remote control that the manufacturer has presented, in case we do not have the mobile at hand or do not want to use it.

The other team that Electrocompaniet has presented is the Rena S2, which is practically identical to Rena SA2 but without the amplification part. And, like all Electrocompaniet products, it is entirely designed and manufactured in Norway.

But the device that is sure to turn heads at the Electrocompaniet booth will be the new power amplifier, the AW800M, which happens to be the manufacturer’s flagship. This new model replaces the well-known AW 600 NEMO as the most powerful monoblock power amplifier in the company, but has been redesigned from scratch. Provides the ability to switch between operating modes mono, stereo and bi-amping.

The Electrocompaniet AW 800 M features the high bandwidth open loop direct coupled topology, further enhanced with high-speed, very high-bandwidth amplification stages. In addition, the manufacturer has indicated that a new output stage design It massively shields the input stages and the load driver, making the output extremely pure and unaffected by the connected load. Electrocompaniet claims that this has the added benefit of significantly simplifying the workload of the already smoothly running feedback system, thereby providing incredibly low distortion figures.

The output stage incorporates 32 high-current, wide-bandwidth bipolar output transistors which can effortlessly supply very high currents to the load. The power supply has also been upgraded to power the output stage, it now has a 210000 uF power filter.

Mains power input is DC and RF filtered before reaching two twin toroidal transformers which have also been upgraded and are magnetically and electrostatically shielded to prevent the intrusion of any noise. In addition, the brand claims that the internal ground reference has also been kept totally free of rectification and output currents.

The result of all this is, according to the manufacturer, a very clean and noise-free output signal, regardless of the output power. This provides a very stable soundstage with the blackest background possible at any sound level.

Of course, at the moment we do not know the price or the launch date of the new Electrocompaniet devices. We will have to wait for the celebration of the High End Show in Munich to see if they provide more data.
