One of the most frequent errors in Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows 10 is related to the MFC71u.dll file. Apparently, the error in question appears when we try to execute a program that depends on said library in the form of a message: “The program cannot be started because MFC71u.dll is missing”, “MFC71u.dll is missing in the computer »,« MFC71u.dll is missing »… This time we will solve this common error through a series of methods.
Solution to the MFC71u.dll error in Windows 10, 7 and 8
As with most errors related to DLL files, the solution goes through reinstalling the Visual Studio C ++ library , a set of libraries developed by Microsoft. Before proceeding with the download, however, we will have to know the architecture of our equipment, which can be 32 or 64 bits.
In this case, the process is as simple as right-clicking on the Windows logo in the Start menu. Next, we will click on System and then on System type , where the PC architecture will be shown.
- Download Visual C ++ for Windows
Now we will only have to access the Microsoft page to download the version compatible with our equipment: x86 for 32-bit and x64 computers for 64-bit computers . The installation process does not differ from that of any other program. Of course, once installed, we will have to restart the computer for the changes to be applied correctly.
Download MFC71u.dll to install it manually in Windows
If the previous method does not work, we can try to download the library manually to install it in its corresponding directory.
- Download MFC71u.dll
Once downloaded, we will go to the path Local disk C: / Windows / System32 to paste the file that we just downloaded in the root of the folder. If our equipment consists of a 32-bit processor, we will have to paste the file additionally in the SysWOW64 folder of the same path.
Move the MFC71u.dll file to the program’s execution folder
In case the MFC71u.dll error persists in the program that we are trying to execute, the next thing we will have to do is replicate the file in the application’s execution directory. To do this, we will right click on the program icon on the Windows Desktop and click on Open the file location.
Now we just have to move the library to the root directory of the folder to force its detection, as can be seen in the capture superior.
And if none of the above works …
We will have to resort to the command machine Windows, better known as CMD. To run this machine, we will write its name in the search bar of the Windows Start menu. Before executing the program, we will right click on the program icon and click on Run with administrator privileges.
With the machine open, we will write the following command by pressing Enter:
sfc / scannow
What the machine will do now It will run a diagnostic tool to analyze and repair system errors automatically. The process can take a few minutes, of course, depending on the reading and writing speed of the hard disk.
