SOLUTION MFC120u.dll is missing error in Windows [2021]

«The program cannot be started because MFC120u.dll is missing», «MFC120u is missing .dll on the computer ”,“ MFC120u.dll is missing ”… One of the most common errors in Windows is related to the MFC120u.dll file. Apparently, the error in question appears when trying to run certain programs: Ableton Live, Corel Draw, Visual Studio, Skachat … The good news is that the error has an easy solution, which we will see below.

Solution to the error MFC120u.dll is missing from the computer in Windows 10, 8 and 7

Like most DLL libraries , its execution depends entirely on the Microsoft Visual Studio C ++ library. The first step to solve the error is to reinstall said library through the different packages for 32 and 64-bit computers .

Before proceeding with the download, the first thing we will have to do is know the architecture from our PC. To do this, we will right click on the Windows icon on the Start menu. Next, we will click on System; in System type, Windows will show the architecture type (32 or 64 bit) .

The next step will be to proceed with the download of the library through the Microsoft website. The x86 package belongs to 32-bit machines , while the x64 version corresponds to 64-bit machines. Once downloaded, the installation process is similar to other programs. Finally, we will restart the computer so that the changes are applied correctly.

Download MFC120u.dll to manually install the file

Another solution if the previous method does not apply is to download the file in question to install it manually in its corresponding directory in Windows.

  • Download 32-bit MFC120u.dll
  • Download MFC120u.dll 64-bit

With the file downloaded, we will go to the following path to paste it in the root of the folder:

  • Local disk C: / Windows / System32

If we have a 32-bit computer, we will have to replicate the file in the SysWOW64 folder located in the same directory ; inside / Windows , specifically.

Move the MFC120u.dll file to the program’s execution folder

In case the above does not take effect, the next step consists of moving the library to the program’s execution folder, which can be accessed by right-clicking on the icon of the program in question and clicking on Open file location , as can be seen in the following screenshot:

Now we just have to paste the library in the root of the folder.

And if none of the above works …

We will have to resort to the Windows command machine, better known as CMD. Just type its name in the Windows search box, not before right-clicking on the program to run it with administrator privileges .

With the machine open, we will write the following command:

  • sfc / scannow

Finally, the program will run a diagnostic tool that will help you find and repair system errors. Of course, the process can last a few minutes , depending on the reading and writing speed of the hard disk. For the changes to be applied correctly, we will restart the computer.
