Elon Musk just announced that all US Tesla users can now subscribe to the self-driving beta. Previously, you had to meet specific criteria to benefit from it. To access it is very simple, but the price is high.
We talk so much about Elon Musk and Twitter lately that we almost forget that he is also CEO of Tesla. The billionaire wants to remind him with a sensational announcement (obviously made on Twitter): all Tesla owners can now benefit from self-driving in beta.
To benefit from it, you only have to fulfill one condition: live in North America. The novelty is indeed only deployed in this part of the world. In Europe, the much stricter legislation does not allow this for the moment.
Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta is now available to anyone in North America who requests it from the car screen, assuming you have bought this option.
Congratulations to Tesla Autopilot/AI team on achieving a major milestone!

Autonomous driving can be activated quickly on Teslas
Tesla owners can access this novelty directly from their screen and can activate it if they have subscribed to the option. It is not given, since it costs no less than 15,000 dollars. It should also be kept in mind that it is still in beta, therefore in the running-in phase.
This feature has been on Teslas for a while in the United States. In 2020, only a handful of motorists could take advantage of it and their number has gradually increased over the months. In October 2022, more than 160,000 owners were using it.

Until now, specific criteria had to be met in order to take advantage of the “Full Self-Driving Capability” option. like having a high Safety Score based on the analysis of your driving or having driven more than 100 miles in Autopilot. These restrictions jump.
If autonomous driving seems to be the futurethis technology still scares regulators. Even more, the Tesla Autopilot, the “level below” is in the crosshairs of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The technology is indeed involved in many accidents across the Atlantic and a man has even been convicted of manslaughter.
Either way, deploying this technology for everyone is a real turning point for Tesla, which wants to move forward in order to remain one of the innovation leaders in the automotive field.
