Elon Musk is no longer the richest man in the world. It is a real earthquake in the very closed circle of the ultra rich. Indeed, the boss of Tesla lost his crown of first world fortune to the benefit of Bernard Arnaud, the CEO of LVMH.

The American magazine Forbes produces an annual ranking of the most influential people in the world. At the same time, the site is also interested in the great fortunes of the planet, in particular by producing a real-time ranking.

And precisely, we have just learned that an earthquake has just taken place in the kingdom of the ultra rich. While we thought it would be unbreakable, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and recently boss of Twitter, is no longer the world’s first fortune.

Bernard Arnaud, boss of LVHM, becomes the richest man on the planet

At 5:55 p.m., Bernard ArnaudCEO of LVMH, has become the richest personality in the world with an estimated fortune of $185.1 billion. Size precision, Forbes takes into account the personal fortune of the French industrialist and his family in its calculation. For his part, the man who hopes to implant a Neuralink computer in a human brain from 2023 finds himself in second place, with a bank account estimated at $184.7 billion. We then find on the 3rd step of the podium the Indian industrialist Gautam Adani, founder of the conglomerate Adani Group, which has interests in various sectors ranging from port infrastructure to logistics and energy.

How can this reversal of the situation be explained? In truth, Bernard Arnaud mainly benefits from the financial troubles of Elon Musk. Indeed, Tesla shares fell sharply on Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange. But this drop is only a logical consequence of the billionaire’s recent setbacks. Since the takeover of Twitter formalized for an amount of 44 billion dollars at the end of October 2022, the fortune of the boss of SpaceX has severely crumbled. According to an article published by Bloomberg a few weeks ago, Elon Musk lost nearly $100 billion in 2022, due to the supply issues that affected Tesla and the Twitter case.

As our colleagues from the Reuters news agency have specified, the title Tesla has lost nearly 47% since Elon Musk revealed his intentions to acquire the social network. Investors fear that Elon Musk will rather favor the blue bird to the detriment of the car brand. In an attempt to reassure them, the billionaire said in the aftermath that he was actively looking for someone to run Twitter.
