Elon Musk and Twitter is a long love story. His subscribers know him mainly for his propensity to “shitpost” and make memes, but Musk goes further and now seeks to have an impact on the very functioning of the network. For that, he offers to buy it back. Simply.

In a tweet (obviously), the CEO of Tesla indicated that he had made an offer of 43 billion dollars to acquire Twitter Inc.just that.

Elon Musk wants to change the face of Twitter

The CEO of Tesla specifies that this is his “best” and “last” offer, so take it or leave it. The goal is here to buy back 54% of the capital of the company ($45 per share) and thereby become the majority shareholder. Elon Musk would therefore have full powers. Only a few days ago, on April 4, he entered the capital of Twitter Inc by becoming the owner of 9%, and therefore entering the board of directors. But Musk wants more. By becoming the majority he says he wants to “unleash” the potential of the platform. If his offer is refused, he indicated that he could simply resell his shares.

For users, this could change a lot of things. Musk should then remove Twitter from the exchange, which would become completely private again. Thus, the CEO would have his hands free to do what he wants. Add an “edit” button in tweets, as he has requested several times? It would be possible. All his decisions, even the craziest ones, could be applied.

The regulations on freedom of expression, a value advocated by the billionaire, could also be reviewed. Will we soon be able to tweet anything without ever being worried? It is a possible future. Either way, Musk is going for a gamble with this final offer. Will shareholders accept the takeover? We will know very soon.
