Elon Musk has just obtained a first victory in his lawsuit against Twitter. Indeed, Judge Kathleen McCormick ordered the social network to send the billionaire and his lawyers additional documents relating to the process of analyzing spam and fake accounts on Twitter.
If you’ve been following the hot issue of the moment, namely the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk, you may know that the operation is currently at a standstill. In early July 2022, the billionaire pulled out of the $44 billion deal he had made to buy the social network.
The Tesla CEO justified his decision, arguing that the company has inflated its user base through numerous fake accounts. He also accuses Twitter of not having transmitted all the information in its possession on the spam analysis processbots and fake accounts present on the platform.
Since then, Twitter has decided to take the case to court. The company is suing Elon Musk for waiving his buyout commitment. In the process, the SpaceX boss also filed a complaint against Twitter, and the legal standoff should begin by October 17, 2022.
Elon Musk gets first win over Twitter
However, we have just learned that Elon Musk is coming to obtain a first victory in his fight against the blue bird. This Monday, August 15, US federal judge Kathleen St. Jude McCormick ordered Twitter to comply in part with a motion of restraint filed by the billionaire’s lawyers.
These have asked the transmission of documents belonging to 22 Twitter employees, which they said had information about the process of analyzing spam and bots on the platform. In addition, note that Elon Musk has filed another motion of constraint, in order to obtain more information on the data relating to the collection of data from Twitter users (Judge McCormick is expected to rule on this request this week).

Regarding the first request filed by Elon Musk, it should be noted that Judge McCormick did not grant access to all of the requested information. Indeed, Twitter is required “to collect, examine and produce documents” belonging to a single employee, namely Kayvon Beykpourformer general manager of the platform’s consumer division.
Arrived at Twitter in 2018 under the direction of Jack Dorsey, founder and former CEO of Twitter, Kayvon Beykpour was sacked by Parag Agrawal, the new boss of the social network, in May 2022.
