Rumbleverse, Epic Games’ free-to-play Battle Royale, is set to shut down soon. According to a tweet from video game journalist Tom Henderson, Epic Games plans to shut down the game’s servers as early as February 2023.
Announced at the end of 2021, Rumbleverse is a unique approach to the Battle Royale formula since it is played more like a fighting game, swapping gunplay for good old fights. While Epic Games’ free-to-play only finally arrived on the market in August 2022, the latter could already close its doors.
Rumbleverse had received two seasons of post-launch content so far, the second season having arrived in November 2022. Unfortunately, no third season would be plannedif we are to believe the information of Tom Henderson, a journalist always very well informed about the video game industry.

End clap for Rumbleverse?
According to Tom Henderson, Rumbleverse servers will be shut down at the end of February, approximately 6 months after its release. As Rumbleverse is an online-only game, all 12 Rumbleverse Achievements will be removed, and it will be impossible to launch the title. Henderson also claims that the game is going to be pulled from digital stores.
It’s unclear exactly why Epic Games would make the decision to discontinue their game, but it may not have had the expected success. Although free-to-play, Rumbleverse features a battle pass model that unlocks a variety of cosmetics as players gain experience through missions and matches. The game also includes microtransactionssince players can buy the in-game currency, Brawlla Bills, to acquire various items in the Rumbleverse store.
As a reminder, Rumbleverse is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. So you don’t have one more month to try it out, before Epic Games closed its doors for good. We don’t know if this news could allow the game to gain a boost in popularity and change the studio’s mind, but we imagine that it is now too late to avoid the hasty end of the Battle Royale.
