Facebook will allow you to better control your news feed, it was about time

Facebook is going through a tough time. The social network seeks by all means to return to the good graces of its users, and to do this, it intends to offer them to have more control over their news feed.

Facebook is a company constantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Profits are down and even BlenderBot3, Meta’s in-house AI, considers that Mark Zuckerberg is ‘too scary’ and ‘manipulative’. A good way to raise the bar and improve the image of the company would be to give more control to users. They complain that their News Feed is now cluttered with too many unwanted posts.

The company announced on its blog that users of the service will be able to specify whether they want more or less of this or that type of content on each post in their newsfeed. Meta not only uses artificial intelligence to lay off employees, Facebook’s parent company also uses it to concoct the social network’s news feed. Until now, the AI was content to compose a thread based on your habits and interactions, and at present, when you click on the post of a friend, a group or a page you You can only hide the post or report it.

By giving control back to users, Facebook will make its AI more efficient

The new setting offered by Facebook will allow you to ask the Meta algorithms to show more posts of this or that type or, conversely, to show fewer of them. As a user you will intervene directly on the ranking made by Facebook’s Artificial Intelligence. This menu does not currently appear on demand, you will see it appear from time to time in the News feed. The social network engineers want to generalize it to each post in the near future on each publication and in the Videos, by clicking on the three small dots.

Additionally, the company continues to add settings to your feed’s Preferences menu. It will soon be possible to specify the number of publications in this menu. Thus, after browsing your News Feed, if you think you have seen too many publications from your loved ones, you can go to the Preferences menu of your News Feed and adjust the publications displayed in a more granular way .
