Filtered the alleged characteristics of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 It will be Qualcomm’s next top-of-the-range ARM-based SoC and the one that would compete, at least initially, with Apple’s A17 Bionic and M3. Since we still have to wait a long time until the official presentation, in the following months what we will have will be mainly rumors and leaks, such as the alleged configuration that it will have at the core level.

One of the things that is already known is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will almost certainly not use TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process, as Apple has moved to monopolize all production for its A17 Bionic and M3 processors. . Instead, Qualcomm’s SoC will be manufactured using the 4nm process, so there’s no reason to think it won’t be efficient once it’s put to the test in real-world environments.

In regards to the core configurationit seems that Qualcomm will bet on one of 1 + 5 + 2 cores instead of 1 + 2 + 2 + 3, so it is assumed that it will try to gain in power. Being more specific, the presumed core configuration of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be a Cortex-X4 core that would run at 3.20GHz in its base configuration and 3.70 or 3.75 gigahertz on Samsung’s future Galaxy S24 series of smartphones, five Cortex-A720 cores that would run at 3GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores that would work at 2GHz.

The alleged configuration that has recently been leaked would represent a significant performance improvement over multicore. It seems that Qualcomm is willing to take a performance leap in order to stand up to Apple and it is likely that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will surpass Apple’s A16 Bionic with relative comfort, but it is important not to anticipate events here.

Other features of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would be the supports of UFS 4.1, LPDDR5 RAM up to 7,500MHz and 5G via an integrated Snapdragon X75 modem. To all this would be added an integrated graphics processor adreno 750. The performance with Geekbench would mark 1,930 points in single-core and 6,236 points in multi-core.

As we have already said, this information comes from a leak, so it is prudent to take it with a grain of salt until there is official confirmation. However, if these data are confirmed, Qualcomm would not only point to the rivalry it maintains with Apple, but also to strengthen its position against the rest of its rivals within the sector.
