Not many months have passed since we were able to go to the cinema to see dunesone of the best feature films of 2021, and which has received a total of 10 Oscar nominations. Barely a month before the statuettes are distributed, Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation will arrive at the HBO Max platform along with other audiovisual productions related to the work of Frank Herbert.
Dune arrives at HBO Max, despite the controversy of the week
If you are one of the few who did not go to see dunes to the cinema, or if you’re dying to see it a few more times, you’re in luck. The February 17th, dunes disembarks in hbo max. All subscribers of the Warner platform will be able to see the film from next Thursday, included in the standard plan and without having to pay extra for the rental of the feature film.
Villeneuve’s adaptation was very well received in theaters despite the pandemic, with a spectacular cast and photography to take off his hat. However, the ten Oscar nominations do not do justice to the film. The Academy seems to have forgotten the magnificent work of Denis Villeneuve, which has not been nominated for Best Director. This has made me feel pretty bad Josh Brolin, who expressed his discomfort at this fact on social networks, because the actor could not believe that the Academy had omitted something so obvious. Even so, he only limited himself to criticizing the fact on Instagram and did not snap his fingers to solve the problem in his own way. Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson will arrive at HBO Max supported by the miniseries sons of dune, launched in 2003. It is based on Messiah of Dune and sons of dunewhich are the second and third parts of Herbert’s work.
The three-part miniseries originally premiered on SyFy. It begins 12 years after Paul Atreides succeeds in overthrowing Shaddam IV and tells the end of Dune as Frank Herbert wrote it.
If you haven’t read the books, it’s possible that this story isn’t worth watching, and you’d rather wait a bit for the second part of Dune adapted by Denis Villeneuve, which is estimated to hit theaters on October 20, 2023. Although, knowing that there are almost two years left before we can see the long-awaited sequel, surely, it is not such a bad idea to get the books to do much more pleasant waiting.
