HBO Max just shared the first official poster for the reunion. Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, they’ll all be there.
20 years already! In December 2001, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone landed on screens around the world, with the ambition of establishing itself as an international success. The bet is quickly won for Warner Bros, which will deliver 8 films inspired by the novels of JK Rowling.
A lot has happened since the conclusion of the adventures of Ron, Hermione and especially Harry. Each of the young actors has continued his little way, on television as on the big screen. More or less discreet careers, which never gave them the opportunity to meet again. This will change this January 1, 2022. On HBO Max, they will come together to celebrate the anniversary of the first film. Warner Bros. has just unveiled the first poster, as fans eagerly await a new trailer.
During a special program, the various actors of the saga will return to the highlights of this magical epic, a look behind the scenes of feature films directed by Chris Columbus, Mike Newell, Alfonso Cuaron and David Yates. So it will not be a new installment, but a reunion like the one of Friends broadcast earlier this year.
No date yet in France
On the other side of the Atlantic, fans of the license will be able to discover Return to Hogwarts from January 1 on HBO Max. A great way to celebrate the start of the year, in the company of iconic characters such as Voldemort played by Ralph Fiennes, Bellatrix Lestrange played by Helena Bonham Carter or even Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane). We should also find the duo Fred and George Weasley, Drago Malfoy or Luna Lovegood. The only one absent from this meeting, JK Rowling was obviously not invited. It must be said that relations are rather tense between the author and the actors, following these declarations on transidentity.
However, French Muggles will have to arm themselves with a little patience. For now, the program has no release date in France, or even an official broadcaster. We can nevertheless imagine that it is SALTO and TF1 which will obtain the exclusivity, as was the case for Friends. A decision that would make all the more sense since the group holds the rights to broadcast feature films on the small screen. TMC also recently offered Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban to its viewers.
A new movie?
Obviously, this meeting relaunches rumors concerning the development of a new part of the saga. Last March, the CEO of Warner Bros. left doubt about a sequel. Jason Kilar said at the firm’s Investor Day: “There is a little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises in the world. We are incredibly grateful to have had the chance to work with JK Rowling and so I would say there is a lot of fun and potential in there ”. The meeting could therefore motivate the actors to put on their wizarding robes, and to offer us a sequel. Adapted from the room Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ? Patience.
The next meeting for the universe is set for April 13 with Fantastic Beasts 3: Secrets of Dumbledore. Set before the events of the Harry Potter saga, the film series follows the adventures of magizoologist Norbet Scorpion, as Grindelwald rallies supporters to ensure wizarding dominance over the Muggle world.
