First real images of the AMD Radeon RX 7900

The presentation of the Radeon RX 7000 will take place on November 3. We know that the Radeon RX 79000 will be the big star of that event, and thanks to a leak we have already been able to see the first real images of this new high-end graphics card, and how it compares to the Radeon RX 6900 XT in size.

The cooling system of the Radeon RX 7900 consists of three fans, just like the Radeon RX 6900 XT. There seems to be a little change in the fan blades, which they are a little thinner in the firstalthough in both graphics cards each fan adds up to a total of 9 blades. Reducing the thickness of these makes sense because this favors the entry of air into the radiator.

And speaking of the radiator, in general terms this is very similar to that of the Radeon RX 6900 XT, although it is a little longer and thicker. The images also confirm other interesting details, such as a slight change in the design of the fans and the top case, the presence of a red PCB and the absence of a metal plate on the backalthough I imagine that these last two things will not be kept in the final version of the Radeon RX 7900, and that they will be exclusive to this prototype.

In the side image it can also be seen that the Radeon RX 7900 will have two 8-pin additional power connectors, the same additional power system that the Radeon RX 6900 XT has. This means that said graphics card will be able to draw a maximum of 375 watts of power (150 watts for each additional 8-pin power connector and 75 watts for the PCIe connector). The TBP of the Radeon RX 7900 will therefore be around 300 to 350 watts.

I remind you that AMD is preparing two versions of the Radeon RX 7900, the top-of-the-range model, which will be identified as “XTX”, and a lower version that will position itself within the high-end, and which uses the “XT” badge. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX will feature 12,288 shadersit will have a 384-bit bus, it will have 24 GB of GDDR6 memory at 18 GHz and it will have an infinite cache (between 96 MB and 192 MB).

For its part, the Radeon RX 7900 XT will come configured with 10,752 shaders, It will have a 320-bit bus, it will integrate 20 GB of GDDR6 memory at 18 GHz and it will also have an infinite cache (between 80 and 160 MB). This will compete, in principle, with the 16 GB GeForce RTX 4080, and the XTX model will face the GeForce RTX 4090.
