A couple of years ago we started talking about The Last of Us series, and we saw that HBO had started to take the first steps. Giving shape to a project of this level was something that was going to require time, that was clear, but fortunately it seems that the project has gone quite wellso much so that we already have with us the first video with real images, and the truth is that I have conflicting sensations.
Although the video is short manages to convey the spirit of the franchise, and it seems that the setting has been taken care of to the millimeter. In the end, the cast that we had been seeing in previous information has been confirmed, which means that Pedro Pascal plays Joel and that Bella Ramsey will face Ellie. Gabriel Luna will play Tommy, Merle Dandridge will play Marlene, Anna Torv will play Tess, Storm Reid will play Riley Abel, and Nick Offerman will play Bill.
This series is based on the events narrated in The Last of Us, which means that there is a possibility that we will see a second season based on The Last of Us Part II. Focusing on what we see in the video, we have a fairly faithful approach to the video game original in almost all aspects (a special mention goes to the wall with cordyceps mushrooms), although it is obviously impossible to make an in-depth and totally reliable assessment based on a video of less than 30 seconds in length.
The first sensations that I have in that sense are good, although I must admit that the cast of actors quite squeaks me. What can I say, the charisma that Joel and Ellie have in video games they make it turn out very difficult to stop associating their faces with the character they represent, and this in the end has taken its toll on me when I watched the video. I am convinced that I will end up getting used to seeing Pedro Pascal in the role of Joel, because in the end there is a minimal resemblance that makes it easier, but in the case of Bella Ramsey I am clear that I will not be able to do the same .
Bella Ramsey is a great actress, that is indisputable, but producers have to understand that if they want to make faithful adaptations of a video game its essence is linked to the charisma and appearance of its protagonists. That is why it is essential to look for actors who have a certain physical resemblance to thema concept as simple as it is important that has been perfectly adopted in numerous films, such as the Resident Evil series by Paul WS Anderson, and also in the film adaptations of Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter.
