After the airing of the fifth season of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma which concluded the culinary anime based on the manga of the same name, it is already time to go back to the kitchen with the protagonists of one of the most particular productions of recent years.
Crunchyroll has in fact announced the arrival on its catalog of 5 OAVs based on the work of Yuuto Tsukuda And Shun Saek, already revealing the titles of the first two Original Anime Video.
The first two new Food Wars OAVs! Shokugeki no Soma
The first, entitled Takumi’s Downtown Competition (Takumi’s challenge in working-class neighborhoods), is based on a short story released in 2016 bundled with volume 18 of the manga.
Food Wars! The Third Plate: Erina at Polar Star Dormitory (Erina at the Stella Polare Dormitory) is instead the title of the second anime, an adaptation of the story that arrived in 2018 attached with volume 29 of the manga.
As reported by ANN, the other three OAVs will be announced at a later date, with all five new anime productions still available worldwide with the sole exception of the Asian market.
Texture and details of Shokugeki no Soma
The anime series follows the story of Soma Yukihira, a fifteen-year-old boy whose dream is to become a chef at the family diner and overcome the extraordinary culinary skills of his father Jōichirō whom he challenges almost daily in the preparation of recipes, but systematically losing.
After completing middle school, Soma is enrolled without his knowledge by his father at the Tōtsuki high school, an elite cooking school where only 10% of students manage to graduate after having honed their culinary skills through lessons and, above all, very hard and highly competitive culinary battles.
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma ended almost a year ago with the broadcast of the 13 episodes that make up the fifth season. Aired starting in July 2016, the anime is available on Netflix, but we’re still waiting to find out when the third, fourth and fifth will be added.
