Disneyland Paris unveils the program of its celebrations. A thirtieth anniversary under the sign of light and novelties.
Marne La Vallée park is about to celebrate a special year. Inaugurated on April 12, 1992, EuroDisney aims to establish the company’s position in Europe, and to become the reference destination on the old continent. If the park has experienced financial ups and downs, it must be admitted that success is rather there. Each year, no less than 9 million visitors that pass through the gates of the two parks. Disneyland Paris, the name given to the complex in 2009, is today the number 1 destination in Europe.
March 6, 2022, the amusement park is celebrating its 30th anniversary. An event that Mickey wants to celebrate with great fanfare, with new shows. It is mainly around the mythical castle of Sleeping Beauty the magic will happen. Just renovated, the imposing building will become the scene of a brand new show, with new costumes, on the theme of the hologram and music. Stylist Stella Maccartney notably created a trouser suit for Minnie, a first in the history of the famous character.
But this show will not only be visual, the teams have also worked on a new musical theme, which will pay tribute to the characters and the different universes. A new song called “A World that lights up” will be on the program. During its online conference, which was held this Tuesday, January 25, Disney shared some notes of the refrain which will be played every day in 2022. Spectators will be able to discover a pre-show projected on the castle using of drones. A world first for Disney, but a process already used in the Vendée park of Puy du Fou.
The taste buds in turmoil
This anniversary will also invest the plates of visitors. For the occasion, the Food and Beverage teams at Disneyland Paris have developed new sweet treats. Tartlets, cabbages and mille-feuilles which will be offered at the various points of sale in the park. The cooks hope to sell between 100 and 200 plates a day in the first months of the celebration.
A few months after the opening of its hotel dedicated to the House of Ideas, Disneyland Paris announces the imminent opening of its Avengers Campus. During the summer of 2022, visitors to the park will be able to discover new attractions and restaurants dedicated to several characters from the Marvel stable. Among other things, we expect a Spider-Man attraction as well as an Ant-Man-style culinary experimentation restaurant.
The Rock’n Roller Coaster, the park’s mythical attraction, will be given a makeover and sport the colors of Iron Man. It will be a question of paying homage to the character with new decorations and new music, on the other hand, the turn and looping will remain the same. These new features are all part of the vast development project for Disneyland Paris, announced several years ago by the firm. David Duffy, Vice President Entertainment at Disney announces: “Absolutely awesome immersive environment, with all the characters you love.”
A celebration impacted by the Covid
During a question and answer session, Duffy also returned to the impact that the pandemic had on the development and the start of these celebrations. “Covid has had an impact on all of our lives. Throughout the process, the safety of our teams and our visitors was at the heart of the project. This obviously had an impact on creativity, logistical problems. We had to be inventive in the fabrics and materials we used.” It remains to be hoped that the health situation will improve in the coming months, so that Disney can organize this event under the best auspices.
