Foundation: Apple renews the series for a second season

Foundation (Foundation), the sci-fi TV series that premiered last month on Apple TV +, will have a second season.

Apple’s announcement comes after the airing of just the first three installments of the show based on the literary trilogy of the same name Isaac Asimov made up of novels Foundation (1951), Foundation and Empire (1952) and Second Foundation (1953).

This demonstrates both the positive impact of the Foundation on the public, and how much the Cupertino Apple firmly believes in this ambitious project, so much so that the Apple top management have confirmed David S. Goyer in the role of showrunner.

What awaits us in the second season of the Foundation?

Goyer himself (“Batman Begins”, “The Man of Steel”) offered some advances on what will happen in Foundation 2:

Since my childhood, I have dreamed of how Hari Seldon and Eto Demerzel would look and how they would look, how Terminus and Trantor would feel. Now, with the second season, our audiences will be able to visit other characters and indelible worlds of Asimov, including Hober Mallow, General Bel Riose and all the Outer Suns.

I am really excited that a whole new generation of fans is approaching Asimov’s brilliant work. A real masterpiece. We are playing the long game with Foundation and I am grateful to my partners at Apple and Skydance for entrusting me with this epic.

Fasten your seatbelts.

Plot and details of the Foundation TV series

When the revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon foretells the imminent fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the edge of the galaxy to establish the Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization.

Enraged by Hari’s claims, the Cleons – a long line of ruling emperors – fear that their control over the galaxy may weaken, undermined by the danger of forever losing their legacy.

The debut season of the TV series, consisting of 10 episodes, is produced for Apple by Skydance Television with Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg And Bill Bost.

After debuting exclusively on Apple TV + on September 24 with the first two episodes, the first season of Foundation – Foundation comes with a new installment every Friday.

With an international cast led by Emmy nominees Jared Harris And Lee Pace, along with the rising stars Lou Llobell And Leah Harvey, this monumental journey tells the stories of four key characters who transcend space and time, overcoming deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships on which the fate of humanity depends.
