We are still immersed in the consumer fever of Black Friday and what remains, because tomorrow is Cyber Monday and we already know that these “celebrations” start earlier and end later than they should. This week’s section, in fact, included only a handful of discounts aside from links to stores like Steam or the Humble Store, basically because with such a ton of games on sale, I didn’t see the need to highlight anything in particular. But I think it’s worth doing, even if in a slightly different way than usual. Because let’s be honest…
It seems that children, the smallest of the house, they don’t play, or that anything is worth it, whether it’s crap or not something optimal to excite them and amuse them, but not to encourage the game as a synonym for violence and kill kills. Not to mention the fact that many children’s first gaming experience is usually on a mobile or tablet, with free games full of advertising or unhealthy mechanics.
In the classic game, the controller in hand, not everything is as it was and today there are as many options as there are tastes and more, so finding games adapted to small children is easier than ever. However, I will recommend four that I consider suitable for the little ones – From four years and up, for example-, which are now on sale and will be super cheap and with very lax requirements.
With a colorful and casual style, Eet’s Munchies is a simple puzzle game that consists of taking the character from the beginning to the end of the level, overcoming different obstacles. A bit similar to classic lemmings in his strategy and very funny. You don’t even need to know how to read to play. You have it at a 75% discount on Steam (€1.74).
If you like the previous one, you’re going to like this one more, whether it’s the first part or, especially, the second part, and it’s that Toki Tori is a great little marvel of puzzle games. The first part is more rudimentary, while the second is an explosion of wit and good taste, both with platformer touches. You have both at 90% discount on Steam: Toki Tori for €0.49 and Toki Tori 2 for €1.49.
Grow Home It’s another blast of a game where all you have to do is reach the end to complete it, but it’s not as simple as it seems, of course. After all, you are a robot fallen from the sky that must climb a gigantic plant. It is done. That’s what the game is about. Easy right? And very pretty. You have it on Steam at a 75% discount (€1.99).
Yoku’s Island Express
Finally, a more modern title, with more action, but with the same charm as the previous ones. In Yoku’s Island Express You are a dung beetle who takes the position of messenger on a curious island full of all kinds of fauna and flora. It has puzzles, platform mechanics and pinball… If anything, it may have parts that are a little more “violent” than the rest (you crush bugs), but nothing special. You have it on Steam at 80% discount (€3.99).
By the way: just because these are games suitable for children, it does not mean that they are not also suitable for the enjoyment of adults. In fact, although the contents are light and the mechanics easy to learn, as you progress, they become more complicated. So you must not only be there to help the little one to play: you have to be there to make it a shared game, it is not worth leaving the nano in front of the screen and going from it.
