Free subscribers had been complaining on social networks about a speed problem on their Internet box for more than a month. After several unsuccessful updates, the operator finally corrected the situation with new version 4.5.8 of its firmware. From now on, the speed will no longer be limited to 500 Mb/s instead of 1 Gb/s.
It is not uncommon for Freeboxes to suffer from a few bugs, but more often than not, the operator corrects these in no time with the help of updates. This time, subscribers will have had to wait five long weeks before obtaining redress. However, it is not for lack of having alerted Free on the subject. On Twitter and other social networks, the messages have multiplied in recent days.

Indeed, the problem seems to concern the latter in the first place, even if other testimonies indicate that other models are also affected.
Free took more than a month to correct the restricted speed problem
They are thus many to complain ofa speed limited to around 500 Mb/s, whereas this is normally supposed to reach 1 Gb/s. A problem that is not recent since the first alerts date back to April 11, the date of deployment of version 4.5.5.1 of the Freebox server. Another subscriber also declares to be unable to watch youtube video in 1080pasking whether “we are back in 2013”.

The rumble was all the stronger since since April 11, Free has deployed several updates to its firmware since April 11, without ever correcting the problem.
