Free: the Nothing Phone 1 is now VoWiFi and VoLTE compatible

Free has just updated its table of smartphones compatible with its VoWiFi and VoLTE technologies. Among the new lucky winners, we find in particular the freshly released Nothing Phone (1). The latter will thus be able to use the 4G networks as well as WiFi during their calls when the signal leaves something to be desired.

Nothing Phone 1

Free is visibly keeping its promise to offer VoLTE on all smartphones released in 2022. Barely launched, the Nothing Phone (1) has just joined the list of devices compatible with the communication technology. In addition, the phone can also use VoWiFi to make calls. This is not the only one, since the operator regularly updates its list of smartphones compatible with both features.

Indeed, last week, several OnePlus models joined the list. If your smartphone is still not compatible, we advise you to take a look from time to time at the table provided by the operator, which you can find at the end of this article. In addition, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G finally joins this famous list.

Free adds several smartphones compatible with VoLTE and VoWiFi

Remember that VoLTE and VoWiFi are two technologies that allow these calls to be made on, respectively, the 4G/5G and WiFi networks to which the smartphone is connected. In certain situations where the signal leaves something to be desired, this notably allows the user to benefit from better call quality. For Free customers, in this case, this service is reserved for subscribers to the 210 GB package.

Note that VolTE is enabled by default on all Android smartphones, which is not the case for VoWiFi. As a reminder, here is how to activate the feature on your smartphone:

  • Go to your app Telephone
  • Open the scrolling menu at the top right of your screen
  • Click on Settings
  • Activate the option Wi-Fi calls then click Enable

Also remember to update your version of Android to be sure you can use these services without problems.
