AVM has started the deployment of FRITZ!OS 7.50 in Spain. This is the latest update to its well-known Linux-based operating system, and it brings important news that will improve the user experience in general. The rollout of this update is taking place gradually and at the moment it is only available for the FRITZ!Box 7590, but the well-known German manufacturer has confirmed that in the coming months it will reach other productsSo calm down and be patient.
To update to FRITZ!OS 7.50 all we have to do is search for updates through the user interface of our FRITZ!Box. For this we are going to “System > Update > Search for new FRITZ!OS”. If we have automatic updates activated, that new version should already appear as available for installation. The process is automatic, so you can rest easy, you won’t have any problem.
FRITZ!OS 7.50: a look at its most important news
The new operating system FRITZ!OS 7.50 improves the performance of our Wi-Fi Mesh network thanks to the dynamic smart repeat. If we use a FRITZ!Repeater or a FRITZ!Box as a Mesh repeater, we will enjoy greater performance and greater stability, because both Wi-Fi bands will be used to achieve an optimal connection.
This update also has improved its home automation features thanks to intelligent automation. We can activate various settings through the FRITZ!App Smart Home, the FRITZ!Fon or the FRITZ!DECT 440 with a simple gesture. So, for example, if we use the command “Arriving home” all the radiator thermostats will automatically adjust to the defined comfort temperature, and we can turn on the connected lamps and lights.
We can also establish routines for when specific scenarios occur. Let’s see it with another example, if the humidity measured by the FRITZ!DECT 440 reaches a certain threshold, the “Ventilation” scenario can be applied, and the same could be applied to other scenarios in which a very low level is detected. In these cases, the heating would be activated at a suitable temperature.
Another interesting novelty has come to the FRITZ!Fon, which have now learned to speak, thanks to the “Voice” ring function. With this new feature the phone will inform us by voice of the calls and the entries in the agenda. If someone calls us, it will tell us who is calling us, and it will also notify us of other important notifications. With regard to unwanted calls, we can block them directly or send them to the answering machine.
The VPN protocol with WireGuard It represents a significant improvement in terms of security. To configure it, we just have to scan the QR code and that’s it, it will be activated automatically. With it we will be able to access our local network quickly and comfortably when we are traveling, we will enjoy a secure connection while working from home and we will be able to use it without problems with the latest versions of Android and iOS.
AVM has also taken advantage of the release of FRITZ!OS 7.50 to improve the operating system interface, which now has a cleaner look and its texts are easier to read. The online help system has also been improved and has been complemented with a keyword search option that facilitates access to advice and instructions.
