Fujitsu will hire 1,600 employees and buy the German GK Software

In the midst of a climate in which large technology companies are laying off employees, more and more multinational companies are deciding to take the opposite path. That is to say, not only do they not fire, but in many cases they are committed to growing. This is the case of Fujitsu, which has announced the hiring of 1,600 more employeesin addition to confirming that you are going to buy retail software provider GK Software to expand its Cloud and Software as a Service division.

As for the purchase of GK Software, Fujitsu already owned 40% of its shares, and now it will keep the remaining 60%, for which it will pay 460 million dollars. If everything goes according to plan, the operation will close next July of this year.

This operation, according to Fujitsu, «will allow GK to continue growing in cloud services for retail spaces, and to provide a better service to its customers«. In fact, the company has plans to expand internationally in Japan and other Asian countries, as well as in Europe and the American continent.

Fujitsu has no intention of changing those plans, nor of making it change its headquarters, which will continue to be in the German city of Schoenek. In addition, it will provide GK with access to high-performance computing technology, as well as Artificial Intelligence. In addition, it will allow the company to advance its Uvance strategy, focused on digital transformation and the assets that help achieve it.

The company is likely to continue acquiring companies, and as stated its CFO, Takeshi Isobe, last January, the new acquisitions will be from companies outside of Japan. In the country, as the manager recognized at the time, it is difficult to buy companies, which is why they are considering carrying out transactions of this type outside their borders.

Regarding the increase in staff, the company plans to carry it out during its fiscal years 2023 and 2024. With the new staff, it plans to strengthen the areas of computing, networks, Artificial Intelligence, data and security, and converging technologies. Fujitsu’s intent is to focus on recruiting high-potential staff for positions that will have vacancies. It will also offer them opportunities to improve their skills.

In 2023, it expects to hire around 800 new employees, already with a medium level of experience in their careers. The remaining 800 will be hired throughout 2024with special emphasis on recruiting new university graduates.
