On this Thursday, March 17, 2021, Samsung has just officially presented its two new mid-range smartphones, namely the Galaxy A33 5G and A53 5G. With its two devices, we find Samsung’s DNA in this particular segment: either smartphones equipped with an attractive technical sheet and which offer certain innovations of the manufacturer’s premium models, all displayed at an attractive price.

Accessibility is Samsung’s key word when it comes to describing its two new devices, which offert 5G compatibility, a Soc engraved in 5nm, a quadruple photo sensor and a large AMOLED panel in FHD+ under the 500 € mark. If the Galaxy S have always been the spearheads of the brand, the Galaxy A represents the most important part of Samsung’s turnover. Indeed, it is the Galaxy A that sells the most around the world. One thing is certain, these Galaxy A33 5G and A53 5G have everything to be a hit.

A neat design with premium looks

Let’s first talk about the design of the two devices. The Galaxy A33 and A53 sport a modern and clean style, no frills. We find at the back of the device this bump photo block which fits perfectly into the chassis of the device, a design which is reminiscent in particular of the Oppo Find X5 Pro. At the front, the slab of the two smartphones is protected by glass Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Mid-range requires, it will be necessary to deal with rather imposing screen edges. Regarding the front sensor, it hides in a somewhat coarse notch on the Galaxy A33, while the Galaxy A53 benefits from a more elegant and more discreet punch. To find design differences between the two smartphones, you will have to look at the edges. The A33 sports a matte plastic, while the A53 features a glossy plastic. In terms of colors, users will be able to choose between Black, White, Blue and Peachour preference going to the latter, which is rather unusual on a device in this segment.

  • The Galaxy A53 5G logically benefits from a better set with a main sensor of 64MPan ultra wide-angle sensor of 12MPa macro-objective of 5MP and a sensor dedicated to portraits of 5MP

At the front, there is a 32 MP sensor for both devices. In addition, as usual, we will have different photo modes such as a Night mode optimized, capable of automatically compiling 12 frames for brighter, sharper night shots. Portrait mode allows you to apply a bokeh effect and will offer great edge precision thanks to two sensors associated with an AI.

As to fun mode, you can use it to add fun filters and effects to your shots, even on photos taken with the ultra wide-angle. New feature this time on the Galaxy A: Remaster photo modewhich allows “bring old silver prints back to life”. The Object Eraser tool, popularized on the Galaxy S22 and Pixel 6, is also included.
