The launch of the Galaxy S23 is just around the corner. According to official information that has escaped Samsung itself, this new generation of smartphones will be presented on February 1st, and his arrival should take place soon after. This new data adds to a long list of leaks that we have been seeing in recent months and that, in general, have allowed us to discover practically all the keys to what is new about the South Korean giant.
In general terms, we can conclude that the Galaxy S23 is going to bring minor changes compared to the current generation, but how does it position said terminal if we do a direct comparison against the Galaxy S22? It is a good question, and in this article I am going to give you the answer you are looking for. Keep in mind, however, that although all the information that we are going to see is reliable, and much of it is confirmed unofficially, there is always the possibility of minor changes.
Galaxy S22 vs. Galaxy S23: Same design, albeit with nuances
The design has been one of the fronts that has undergone the least changes in recent years within the Galaxy S family, although being fair we must say that Samsung has not been the only one that has opted for a continuity approach, since other large companies in the sector have followed the same path.
With the Galaxy S23 we will see the same strategy as in previous generations, that is, a marked continuity, although with an important nuance. The Galaxy S23 will maintain the same front that we saw on the Galaxy S22 and will retain the all-screen finish with a camera integrated into a floating island. In the rear we will also see a configuration of three cameras with a vertical arrangement, but these will no longer be mounted on a separate island from the chassis, but will come integrated into it in a cleaner way.
The Galaxy S23 is expected to keep the 6.1-inch screen of the Galaxy S22, so we will not see changes in its size, nor in the line of the terminal or in its ergonomics. The quality of materials will also remain the same, which means that the new Samsung will be manufactured in aluminum and glassa combination of materials that has become a classic within the premium range.

One of the most important differences that the Galaxy S23 series will bring compared to the Galaxy S22 family will be the farewell to the Exynos SoC, since all the models that will be marketed internationally will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This has an explanation, and it is due to the poor results obtained by the South Korean company with the Exynos 2200, a top-of-the-range chip that, as our readers will remember, came mounted on all the Galaxy S22 that were marketed in Spain.
Samsung has not forgotten about its Exynos series of SoCs, so we must be clear that this is not a goodbye, but rather a see you soon. The South Korean company has needed to take a break to be able to apply the necessary changes in its chip development division for mobile devices, and it is only a matter of time until we see a new top-of-the-range chip from the giant again.
That new chip will offer a significant performance boost at both the CPU and GPU levels, although we don’t expect major changes when it comes to RAM or storage. By this I mean that the Galaxy S23 will come configured, in its base version, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage capacity, the same numbers that the Galaxy S22 handles. It remains to be seen what happens with the battery, but the most recent information points to a slight increase in its capacity, which would rise from 3,700 mAh of the Galaxy S22 to 3,900mAh in Samsung’s new flagship terminal.
Regarding the cameras, we can be clear that the Galaxy S23 will have “notable” improvements compared to the Galaxy S22, at least according to the latest information that has been appearing. Many of these improvements will be possible thanks to the adjustments that Samsung will make in the image processing, and will not obey major changes at the hardware level. However, it must be clear that the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will be key in this regard.
Galaxy S23 price: more expensive than the Galaxy S22?
This is one of the most important questions that is still in the air, and the truth is that anything can happen. All in all, looking at the current market situation, the results that Samsung has obtained with the Galaxy S22 and the trend towards normalization of the supply chain, I think that the price of the Galaxy S23 is most likely remains at the same level as that of the Galaxy S22or in the worst case it ends up being a little more expensive.
