As Samsung has just presented its new Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra, all eyes are now on the next generation of foldable smartphones, which should welcome a new Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Samsung launched its Galaxy S22s earlier this week, which will be the manufacturer’s premium offering in 2022. Now, Samsung can now focus on releasing its next flagship smartphones, its Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable devices. The latter are not expected before this summer, but we can already have an idea of what the smartphone could look like.
Designer Ben Geskin has unveiled a Galaxy Z Fold 4 concept, which shows off an all-new design for the successor to 2021’s Galaxy Z Fold 3. As you’ve probably noticed, this one draws a lot of inspiration from the new design of the Galaxy S22 Ultra with its four photo sensors integrated directly into the back of the smartphone.

Two cameras under the screen for the Galaxy Z Fold 3?
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 introduced under-display camera technology to Samsung smartphones last year, but the device only used it on the internal display. On this new generation in 2022the Korean manufacturer could replace the punch of the external screen with a sensor placed under the slabwhich would make it possible to enjoy two large screens without any distractions.
Although the Galaxy S22 Ultra has removed the prominence of the camera module on the back, the same should not be the case on its foldable smartphones. Indeed, each of the two parts of a Galaxy Z Fold is much thinner than a traditional smartphone. Unless using very small sensors, the thinness of the smartphone would therefore force Samsung to let its sensors protrude from the back of the smartphone. In addition, it is highly doubted that Samsung will opt for a periscope on its foldable devices. It is more likely that they are content with resume the photo configuration of the classic Galaxy S22.
In 2022, Samsung will bet everything on its Galaxy Z Fold. We had seen last year that the Korean manufacturer sold 4 times more foldable smartphones than in previous years, and production should again increase sharply for this new generation. Samsung, for example, plans to manufacture 2.9 million Galaxy Z Fold 4s this year, compared to only 1 million Galaxy Z Fold 3s.
