GeForce RTX 4070: Specs, release date, possible performance and price

NVIDIA pending the launch of several important products, and one of them is the GeForce RTX 4070, a highly anticipated graphics card because it will be located right on the first rung of the high-end and because it should offer high performance at a more affordable price. However, this does not mean that it will be cheap, you already know how the evolution of prices in the graphic sector has been during the last two years.

The GeForce RTX 4070 will use the NVIDIA AD104 graphics core, a chip that will be manufactured in 5 nm and that in its complete configuration has 7,680 shaders and this is precisely the version used by the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. The version that the GeForce RTX 4070 will mount will be trimmed, obviously, but it will maintain good enough specifications to be able to play in 4K with guarantees, and it will have the important advantage of being compatible with DLSS 3 technology. These could be its final specifications:

  • AD104 graphics core in 5nm.
  • 35.8 billion transistors.
  • 5,888 shaders at 2,505 MHz-2,640 MHz, normal and turbo mode.
  • 184 texturing units.
  • 184 fourth generation tensor cores.
  • 64 raster units.
  • 46 third generation RT cores.
  • 192-bit bus.
  • 12 GB of 21 GHz GDDR6X memory.
  • 36MB L2 cache.
  • 31.08 TFLOPs of power in FP32.
  • 250 watt TGP.

Possible performance, price and release date of the GeForce RTX 4070

The latest information They point to the month of April as the release date of this graphics card, a date that in principle makes a lot of sense and that has been seen in documentation that in theory originates from official sources. That release date would also leave NVIDIA plenty of room to launch the GeForce RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti between May and June.

Regarding performance, the GeForce RTX 4070 will most likely sit between GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in rasterization, and that surpasses the latter in ray tracing. As we said before, thanks to DLSS 3 it will be able to outperform much more powerful and expensive graphics cards, since this technology allows it to generate an additional frame for every two frames rendered in the traditional way.

Regarding the price, it is an issue that raises many doubts, but based on the price of its older sister, the Ti version, we can intuit that it will be between 600 and 700 euros, approximately, although we must take this into account in the end as well. It will depend on each assembler and the quality and added value of each personalized design.
