While the official launch of the RTX 4090 is expected on October 12, 2022, prices for Custom models, i.e. versions made by third-party manufacturers, are starting to appear on the web. Good news, these rates are much more reasonable than expected.
As you know, Nvidia took advantage of GTC 2022 to officially present its new generation of GPUs under Ada Lovelace architecture, the GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080. Regarding the RTX 4090, it will be the first to land in our regions, from October 12, 2022.
Fact, pre-orders just opened at many retailers Americans and Europeans. The opportunity for users to discover the prices of Custom models, or variants manufactured by third-party manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI or Gigabyte.
Custom models of the RTX 4090 not so expensive as expected
And good news, we see that the prices charged do not deviate that much from that recommended by the manufacturer, namely from $ 1,599 across the Atlantic and from 1950 € in France. The ProShop site, which is one of the largest retailers of computer hardware in Europe, has just put several Custom models of RTX 4090 online.
Starting prices start around from 2000 €, which is only €50 more than Nvidia’s MSDP. This is for example the case of the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce 24 GB or the ASUS GeForce RTX 4090 TUF 24 GB. On ProShop, the most expensive custom model remains the ASUS GeForce RTX 4090 ROG Strix overclocked to 24 G0 , with a price of 2459 €.
We are far from the surge in prices of the Custom models of the RTX 3000 in 2021, particularly due to the global shortage of electronic components. As evidenced by a survey published by 3DCenter, these GPUs were trading on average at a price three times higher than the price recommended by manufacturers, AMD and Nvidia. An RTX 3060 for example, displayed at 329 € by the green team, iswas found on the net between 999 and 1122 €…
Either way, it’s heartening to see that the prices for the Custom models of the RTX 4090 remain rather close to Nvidia’s recommended prices. We also note that AMD has just announced a significant drop in the prices of the RX 6000, its latest GPUs to date. Indeed, the RX 6900 XT, the mid-range model, is thus offered at $699 instead of $999. Something to appeal to users cooled by the high prices of the RTX 4080 and 4090.
