Ghost of Tsushima: announced with a trailer the release date of the Director’s Cut and the expansion

After the advances a few days ago talking about the expansion Ghost of Ikishima, Sony confirms the arrival of the expansion of Ghost Of Tsushima, the acclaimed game of Sucker Punch Productions which will also see the debut of the version Director’s Cut.

The news comes directly from the official PlayStation blog, with the Japanese giant also unveiling the release date of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut release date

This particular version of the game, which will contain all the additional content released to date, as well as a new adventure, will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 from next August 20. Anyone who already owns the base version of Ghost of Tsushima (our review here) will be able to purchase an upgrade package.

We’ve thought a lot about how to expand Jin’s story, and we’ve also spent the last year going through all your thoughts on how to improve the Ghost of Tsushima gaming experience. We’ve been working hard on a new edition of the game, which includes not only a new chapter in Jin’s journey, but also some new updates in response to some of the most requested features from the community.

We are pleased to announce that on August 20th we will release Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on both PS5 and PS4. This new edition not only includes the original game and all the additional content released to date, but also a new adventure from Jin and many new features that we can’t wait to reveal.

Iki Island

If you love history, you will know that in addition to Tsushima, the neighboring island of Iki was also invaded around the same time. Today we’re thrilled to reveal that a brand new chapter of Jin’s journey is on the way and will be set right in Iki. In this new story, Jin will travel to the island to investigate rumors of a Mongolian presence. Soon, however, he will find himself involved in some events that will affect him very closely and that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past.

Soon we will have more information to share about Iki’s story, but today we can confirm that in addition to a completely new storyline and new characters, this island also features tons of new content including environments to explore, new armor for Jin and his horse, new minigames, new techniques, new types of enemies and much more. There are even new animals to pet!

On both platforms, the Director’s Cut will allow you to unlock new trophies for new Iki content.

Features exclusive to PS5

While the players of the Director’s Cut on PS4 and PS5 will be able to enjoy the unpublished contents of the island of Iki, the PlayStation 5 players will have access to some new additional features.

We’ve listened to your feedback on the lack of Japanese lip sync in the original version of Ghost of Tsushima, and that’s something we’ve been working hard on for this new version. Thanks to the PS5’s ability to render footage in real time, scenes in Ghost of Tsushima and the Iki Island Expansion will feature lip-sync for Japanese dubbing.

We are also happy to confirm that Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends and the new Iki Island Expansion will take advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the Director’s Cut. There will also be improvements to 3D audio * on PS5, as well as drastically reduced loading times, resolution options in 4K and framerates at 60 FPS.
