GIGABYTE expands its lineup of AORUS and AERO laptops

GIGABYTE AORUS is the line of laptops that the Taiwanese manufacturer focuses on playing video games, while AERO is aimed at creators. Both were updated at CES in Las Vegas with the AORUS 17X, AORUS 15X and AERO 16 OLED models, flagships of the 2023 catalog update with the latest Intel processors (Core i9), NVIDIA dedicated graphics (RTX 4090 ), designs that are lighter in weight and thickness, and new cooling designs that demand increased power.

Now GIGABYTE extend the two series with models that lower the hardware level a step above the top of the range, but maintaining a remarkable level of performance and lower prices. We review them.

GIGABYTE AORUS 17 and 15

The manufacturer offers two models that are practically identical in general design and hardware, but differentiated by their screen size. The first is from 17.3 inches and offers two panels to choose from, one with QHD resolution with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a second with FHD resolution and 300 Hz. The second is 15.6 inches, with QHD resolution of 165 Hz and a second with FHD resolution and an update rate of 360hz It doesn’t even have its older brother from the ‘X’ series.

GIGABYTE AORUS

Inside, the Raptor Lake Mobile processors from Intel stand out up to a Core i7-13700H and the new dedicated graphics from NVIDIA, up to the RTX 4070 with full access to the maximum 140W TGP with Dynamic Boost technology, and all in a slim profile with enhanced WINDFORCE Infinity cooling system to ensure optimal performance when running the biggest workloads.

It can equip up to 64 Gbytes of DDR5-4800 memory and has two M.2 2280 slots to equip double solid state drive. They have Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB 3.2, HDMI output, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Its keyboard is a backlit chiclet and the audio system includes four speakers with Dolby Atmos.

With Windows 11 pre-installed they will be a great option as an alternative to the X models presented at CES. Its hardware level does not drop too much, it maintains the good screens, renewed design and should be marketed at a substantially cheaper price.

GIGABYTE AERO 14 OLED

If the previous ones are for games, here we are facing a variant of the AERO 16 for creators that is committed to giving it greater mobility and autonomy, with aerospace-grade CNC-milled aluminum chassis, but without losing display capacity or performance.

the screen of 14 inches repeats OLED technology that is a guarantee of contrast and image quality, and in fact is certified for the VESA DisplayHDR 600 TrueBlack standard. Its native resolution amounts to 2.8K and its 16:10 aspect ratio is ideal for work.

Also updated in internal hardware with the possibility of equipping processors such as the Core i7-13700H and a dedicated graphic NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Mobile. They are equipped with LPDDR5 RAM memories and PCIe Gen4 SSD for storage, supporting Thunderbolt ports, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, and with an IR webcam for security tasks with Windows Hello.
