Gigabyte updates AORUS and AERO at CES 2022

One of the most anticipated presentationss at this CES 2022 was, without a doubt, Gigabyte’s, and we are talking about one of the benchmark technologies, and that has a special predicament in the world of gaming. Not surprisingly, their AORUS and AERO laptops are a popular choice for both gamers and content creators.

So, as expected, Gigabyte has updated both families, with models in which we will find new next-generation components, among which the new Alder Lake CPUs presented by Intel this week stand out. So let’s see what both lines offer us in their 2022 updates.

With a renewed design, which shines especially in the AORUS 17 and its striking bezel-less display, Gigabyte is putting the focus back on performance, as you can see in the table above. This bet begins with the election of the twelfth generation Intel Core H, Intel’s top-of-the-line choice for laptops, and continues for its series GPUs RTX 30 Mobile from NVIDIA, with the 15 and 17 models using the manufacturer’s current top-of-the-line range, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 16 gigabytes of VRAM.

When it comes to memory, Gigabyte has put the generous cap of 64 gigs, although in the AORUS 5 models it will be DD $ at 3,200 megahertz, while in the 15 and 17 variants the jump has been made to DDR5, one of the most important novelties of Alder Lake, so the performance of this memory will be 4,800 megahertz. And we also see a very important leap in terms of storage, with its up to four terabytes SSD PCIe Gen 4.

If we talk about screens, the 17.3-inch model offers resolution FullHD (1,920 x 1,080 dots) with a refresh rate of 360 hertz. If we talk about the Gigabyte AORUS 15, 15.6 inches), we can choose a QHD screen with a refresh rate of 165 hertz, or a screen with FullHD resolution that, as in the 17, reaches 360 hertz . And as regards the AORUS 5, we can choose a screen with FullHD resolution at 240 hertz or another of the same resolution, but with a refresh rate of 144 hertz.

As we review its connectivity options, both wired and wireless, we again see in the Gigabyte reviews some of the news that has come from the hand of Alder Lake. In the wireless section we find WiFi 6E for the 6 gigahertz band, and Bluetooth 5.2. And when it comes to wired connections, all models have a Thunderbolt 4 port, in addition to the USB 3.2, HDMI, RJ45 and audio minijack that all models have in common.

If with the AORUS Gigabyte it already offers a very high performance, in the case of the AERO we see that the company has not been left behind either. The first example of this is that in both the 16 and 17 models, the top-of-the-range options have a brand-new Intel Core i9 Alder Lake-H. And it is that, remember, at present the Intel Core i9-12900H It is the highest performance processor that Intel offers for notebooks. The processor is supported by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Mobile GPUs, up to 64 gigabytes of RAM (DDR5 on Models 16 and 17 and DDR4 on Gigabyte AERO 5) and up to four terabytes of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage.

If we talk about its screens, the Gigabyte AERO 17 is simply overwhelming, thanks to its 17.3-inch MiniLED panel with 4K resolution and 400 hertz refresh rate. The 16 and 5 models share this resolution, with 16 and 15.6 inches respectively.

A very interesting aspect of the Gigabyte AERO family has to do with its connectors. And it is that the models 16 and 17, which base have two Thunderbolt 4, a USB type C and an audio minijack, also include a hub with USB-C connection, which expands the laptop’s connection catalog with a USB 3.1-A, an HDMI, a Mini Displayport and an RJ45. Regarding its wireless section, how could it be less, the three models have WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.
