Gladiator 2: Ridley Scott reveals film will soon be “ready to go”

We have long known that The Gladiator 2, the sequel to the 2000 blockbuster, is in the director’s mind Ridley Scott but, now, it seems that the project is almost “ready to go” with its production.

Ridley Scott ready to make Gladiator 2?

21 years after the release of the first film in cinemas, and after 5 Oscars and numerous other international awards, it seems that Massimo Decimo Meridio (or whoever will take his legacy) is ready to return to the big screen.

The director of The Martian and it’s The Crusades: Kingdom of Heaven he explained in a recent interview with Empire that, once the film on Napoleon with Jodie Comer And Joaquin Phoenix, Kitbag, will be concluded, will be ready to carry out the much discussed sequel to Gladiator.

“I’m already writing (next) Gladiator Now. So when I’m done with Napoleon, The Gladiator will be ready to go. “

This is while we await the arrival of numerous other Ridley Scott projects in theaters; like The Last Duel coming next October, House of Gucci and the Alien prequel still untitled.

The producer of Il Gladiatore, in a previous interview, had stated:

“Ridley would love to do that. It’s really about getting something on paper. Everyone (those involved with the original) loves the film too much to consider exploiting it cheaply and doing anything that is a shadow of it. It’s really a clear problem with creativity, working on a script, and if we can ever get it where we want… Ridley is working on it, it’s really just a question of whether we can take it in a direction worth making. It’s a challenge.”

Of the new film, if the screenplay remains unchanged, we know that it will be set 30 years after the first film and that Massimo Decimo Meridio could actually appear as well; despite having died in the first film.
