GLS Spain optimizes its parcel system to face the growth of the sector

Siemens Logistics has just closed an agreement that can catapult you into new sectors. And it is that it has recently signed a contract with GLS Spain, one of the main parcel companies from the country.

The order includes the design, integration and commissioning of the package sorting technology for its headquarters and main hub in the Iberian Peninsula. Siemens Logistics will integrate several high-efficiency Visicon singulators, two kilometers of conveyor belt, a linear sorting system, and state-of-the-art software.

To face the continuous growth of parcel flows, GLS Spain has opted for centralize your operations in the capital region, of great strategic importance. This new logistics center will form part of the Madrid Gate Logistics Center – located near the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport – where more than 75,000 square meters will be used for the construction of the new GLS Spain facilities.

In them, Siemens Logistics will install a powerful sorting system with a throughput of 50,000 packages per hour for the efficient processing of shipments of different formats and weight categories.
